Origin Story

In movie terms an origin story either establishes a franchise or is produced as a prequel once the franchise is established. I see this film as totally stand-alone and cannot imagine how a sequel might be linked in. So while technically we see the origin of Joker I suspect this is the end of this particular imaging.

Yeah I think the director has actually already confirmed this is a stand alone and would have no sequel.

Both Todd Philips and Joaquin Phoenix said they didn't want a franchise (and both seem to have a dissatisfaction with franchises and superhero flicks in general). The story begins and ends with this movie. I don't see what else they could do with the story, really.

They could do a lot, considering it is a Joker origin, and there are decades of already written material. I'm glad they aren't going that route. This was great, let it be.

I don't either - but I bet there are rooms full of wannabe producers trying to think of ways to make it otherwise.

They have Jared Leto’s Joker for that.
