I've never seen a movie get so much advance bad press.

I'm curious as to whether it'll help or hurt the box office.

reply

How accurate do you think the press on it is?

Originality will not mean anything if the ideas are messy.

Very few people will want to have hot sauce on their ice cream, unless they're Cajun (they're a great bunch).

"How accurate do you think the press on it is?"

Seeing as the movie hasn't been released yet, I doubt the bad advance buzz has any accuracy at all!

But the film has somehow become a magnet for discussions about mass shooters and incels, at a point when nobody knows if the content has any relationship to the discussion. I'm seriously curious about the upcoming effect on the box office, for all I know there really is no such thing as bad publicity and everyone except me will flock to see the thing and to chatter about it online the second the credits roll.

When it comes to film publicity, silence says a lot more than any bad publicity will.

Honestly, I'm expecting the Joker to be a crazy lunatic. I'd actually be disappointed if that's not the case for this movie.

Will expectations meet the demands? Time will tell.

I think this going to turn into what happened with Dave Chappelle Special. The more they bitched about it. There more people watched it.

funny stuff...... once upon a time conservative Christian types were the ones worried about films and music negatively affecting impressionable minds. The progressive folks were the ones deriding them for being backwards and simplistic.

Well whaddya know?

the tables have turned, and the progressives, who have spent the last 100 years attempting to convince everyone that morality is conditional or maybe not even real, are suddenly as moralistic as my Bible-thumpin’ southern Grandma.

And conservative Christians were the ones worrying about women showing too much skin. Now you have progressives doing the very same. In UK, the Major of London, Muslim, belonging to the Labour Party (left), prohibited billboards showing girls in bikini in the Underground.

And conservative Christians were the ones wanting to ban pornography or prostitution. Now you have progressives asking for the same.

It seems to me that progressives are the new conservatives.

exactly.......

"the Major of London, Muslim, prohibited billboards showing girls in bikini in the Underground"

but of course he has done nothing to stop knife murders and acid attacks !
we are all happy to see he has his priorities in order ! 😅 ............ 😒

Nothing any different than that other bad movie hyping of that North Korea guy that Franco did.The Interview

reply

There was bad press? All I heard was good praise for the film on Youtube trend and RT about a few weeks ago. Did something suddenly change?

reply

The only bad press are some people on twitter who think movies create violence. They're no different than people who blame violence on, say, rap music or marijuana. If anything, it's good publicity for the movie as it turns it into this taboo subject that will get peoples' attention. That's always how that goes.

reply

What little negative I've read were politically motivated attempts to provoke dittos to go see it to protest "the left," much like what Stallone did with Rambo.
