Can you say " low budget hotplay"?

This will be quite an interesting experiment. We already saw WB steering in this direction with Shazam's very responsible budget and 2017's mega-blockbuster 35 million-budgeted Stephen King's IT.

Joker is bound to do big numbers and with a small budget is bound to be VERY profitable.

Without the charisma of RDJ anchoring the MCU, it seems DC sees the writing on the wall and instinctively KNOW that budgets for CBM's need to adjust. Disney will continue to wildly overspend even without RDJ going forward and it looks like WB is just slyly smiling saying "go right ahead buddy...we're going in a smaller-budget direction but you keep going with your 200-300 million budgets".

lol

Oh the times they are a-changin' without RDJ.

I'm sure DC will make something worthwhile eventually!

reply

They've had a string of recent hits...Wonder Woman...Aquaman...Shazam! So it seems general audiences have found their films quite worthwhile.

reply

Well if they can pay the rent with one film per year that's just great!

reply

You know who WB is using as a guide in this new "low-budget hotplay" direction

Universal.

That studio! LOL. A lot of people don't realize how efficiently run that studio is. Even their ANIMATED FILMS are cheaply made...and general audiences show up in droves.

A funny side note:

Universal loves being efficient and gets a kick out of watching Disney overspend. Lol.

They make The Grinch for 70 million while Disney spends 185 million on Ralph Breaks the Internet...and BEATS them at the holiday box office. LOL

Disney was all set to buy Fox at a ridiculously expensive 52 billion and Universal gets its mischievous smile on and enters the bidding jacking the price up to an INSANE 71 billion then pulls out telling Disney "good luck".

Lol

You are really an idiot with no clue about how Hollywood works. All the major studies work together its not really a competition like stupid people on forums try to make it out. Studios are not sports teams you dont have to cheer for one and hate one. Stars, production teams, writers work for all the studios not just one.

reply

You are talking about the studio that repeatedly failed to bring a shared universe to life, right? That's what DC is going with?

reply

Just a 55 million budget for this hotplay.

reply

Lets see , so the last movie Marvel studios released made 2.7 billion at a cost of 300 million , that a hot play right there , its a shame you know very little about the movie business, very little indeed, there is more than production costs behind a movie, its a shame you're small pea brain doesn't understand.

Here's one for you Queen, and hopefully this will shut you up for good , take a look at this linked and tell me what you see year in year out

https://www.the-numbers.com/market/2019/distributors , Disney destroys the competition, yes there movies cost more, but that is more than made up over the course of a year, game, set , match, no disappear, Universal and WB are small in comparison

reply

I agree
