Johnny Lawrence? Are the Karate Kid canon and HTTM in the same universe?

It's 2010 - Adam, Nick and Lou go back in time to 1986 at which point Daniel is over in Okinawa and Rob Corddry's character "tells him a bunch of shit that will make him rich in the future". Like... maybe rekindling his old love of karate? Hell, even Doria Baird plays is wife/girlfriend in Hot Tub Time Machine and she's his ex in the Cobra Kai.

I know that's not the case, but it's a funny coincidence about William Zabka and Doria Baird.
