What if Robby had joined Cobra Kai instead of Miyagi Do?

What if during the scene near the end of Episode 5 when Johnny gave Miguel his Gi, Instead of Robby walking away in disgust, Robby had walked up to them and introduced himself to Miguel and joined Cobra Kai? What would have happened? Would Miguel and Robby get along? How would the tournament have gone? What kind of person would Robby turn into? Would Robby still hang out with those two criminals?

It wouldn't have made as much sense for the story. Robby was a rogue, and the idea was the rogue becomes honorable by joining Miyagi-Do. Simultaneously, the honorable kids from school become rogues by joining Cobra Kai. Then we have Johnny and Daniel in the middle kinda veering back and forth between honor and rogue. It's an extremely arc-driven season. I feel like Robby joining Cobra Kai at the end of ep 5 would throw a wrench in his character arc.

I wasn't talking about if the show had gone this route. I was talking about what would have happened in an alternate universe where Robby joined Cobra Kai instead of Miyagi Do Karate.

Ok, my bad I guess. Though it does sound like a semantics thing.

I don't think it's possible, in-universe.

Johnny's been a deadbeat dad for a long time before the series starts. Robby was about to make a first, tentative overture toward reconciliation, but ANYTHING would've thrown it off.

Seeing Miguel get the gi was only one of any number of triggers that would've sent Robby straight to Larusso's auto group.

The reason, I think, is that it takes respect to submit to a sensei, and Robby doesn't respect Johnny at this point.
