How woke is it?

Actually, I think they are being critical about the woke ideology, which surprised me.
They are taking a balanced view about the issues of racism, feminism, sexual harrassment and cultural appropriation.

The way they depict the media world is that place where people need to partake in moral grandstanding even though they know it is bullshit.

For example
1. They depict the black guy as deluded about the reason for him not being picked for moderation.
2. They have a dialogue where an Italian women is literally smoking a radical feminist
3. They treat the backlash for cultural appropriation as something they have to do to avoid negative hashtags, not something that is actually rational
4. They treat being bisexual as something that should not be used for career advancement
5. They show the bossy Asian in a negative light

Overall the show offers a sharp criticism of the cynicism of media circles, they don't treat woke ideology as the holy gospel but rather something that people use for moral grandstanding and career advancement - the race to be the most underprivilegd is real.

I would even go as far as saying the show is a satyre of woke ideology, making a farce out of it, similar to how The Politician treated it. Not something you have to believe in for its moral virtues but something people utilize in selfish ways. I think it is refreshing.

I personally think that newer generations should not pay for the harm done by older generation. This constant guilt-induction about cultural appropriation, and constant reversed-discrimination against while straight male is hardly fair for people who live in society TODAY. Creating unfairness in the world today to atone for a past we cannot change is like we have not learnt A THING about all that was wrong about slavery, biggotry, homopobia.

We have a chance in our day and age to apply those learnings and avoid making the same mistakes of ostracizing certain groups. Woke ideology needs to learn from the past!

There was one lgbt couple in the first season. Now there are 2 couples - out of 10 people.
