What Oscars will this get nominated for?

The film was good, but good enough for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director?

reply

Maybe Best Picture. I also think Pitt will be nominated. He was so good in this.

reply

In terms of nominations, I think best actor to both Pitt and Leo, best art direction, best editing, maybe best cinematography, best hair and makeup, and best picture. I don’t think Tarantino will recieve any nominations for writing or directing. The only thing I think it has a chance winning is art direction and best actor to Leo.

Unless something better comes out before 2020, OUATIH is going to clean up at the Oscars

reply

Best Picture, original screenplay, director, actor, supporting actor, cinematography, editing, and production design.

Best Picture nomination should be easy...they nominate up to 10 movies a year these days.

Best Original Screenplay nomination should be easy...very few original screenplays are filmed these days. This is why QT often gets this nomination, and has won twice(Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained.)

Acting? A bit tricky. Pitt's got the better character. Will the studio push both Leo AND Pitt for Best Actor? They could cancel each other out. Will Pitt accept Best Supporting Actor nomination and let Leo push for Best Actor?

Best Director...possible, but competitive.

Margot Robbie as Best Supporting Actress?(Given her limited screen time and dialogue.)

reply

Margot Robbie was in the movie more that Beatrice Straight was in Network, and Straight won Best Supporting Actress for being in the movie for less than 15 minutes. So Robbie certainly could be nominated and also could win. Remember the voters only see a limited amount of scenes and don't necessarily watch the entire movie.

reply

If you remember the film "Lust for Life", Anthony Quin won the best supporting actor Oscar for a showy role that was only 7 minutes in total.

reply

>>Straight won Best Supporting Actress for being in the movie for less than 15 minutes.

You can't compare those performances. Straight won an oscar because of a very showy emotional scene (breakup of a long marriage). It's the kind of emotional acting that is made for the oscars. Robbie wasn't given any such scenes, so comparing them is pointless.

It will never beat anything against the Beautiful Day Neighborhood movie.
