Let's talk about all the cameos/smaller parts

Pitt and DiCaprio were spectacular, yes.

But what about the smaller parts played by Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern, Timothy Olyphant, Luke Perry, Michael Madsen (although his part was very small), Nicholas Hammond, Dakota Fanning, Damian Lewis, Al Pacino, Emile Hirsch, Mike Moh and even Lena Dunham.

I am probably leaving somebody out, but who were your favorites of the smaller parts?

My clear favorite was Nicholas Hammond as the cowboy movie director. He was great in the part. I also liked Bruce Dern, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Emile Hirsch and I was impressed by Dakota Fanning. Al Pacino was also good here, with the benefit of being directed by a good director again. Ultimately, everyone delivered in the film.

I saw a flash of Martin Kove’s Face as a cowboy in a very brief cameo. It took me a while to realize it was him.

Clu Gaulager was the guy who sold Tate the books. I only recognized him by his voice.

Bruce Dern - not a huge fan
Scoot McNairy - was good
Clifton Collins Jr. - as a sidekick
Rumer Willis - I never spotted her...
Lew Temple - hard to spot
Maurice Compte - gangster

Rumer Willis was in this scene. She played British actress Joanna Pettet and was Tate's friend:

I didn't recognize her either and was surprised that this character was Rumer.

That jaw gave it away

but she must have had some work done because her face isn't quite as off-kilter as it used to be

I loved Bruce Dern in this.. something cringe-worthy yet.. kinda see his side ?

I thought overall all roles were well cast!

reply

This role was written for Burt Reynolds.

reply

yes and Dern did well.

reply

I’m a big Hirsch fan. How was he ?

reply

Go see the movie.

Did Tarantino do a cameo in this?
Might have been in the Playboy mansion party?

reply

I don't think he did a noticeable one but it's possible he may have been in the Playboy mansion scene in the crowd.

But he is briefly heard in the post-credit scene (the Red Apple commercial).

reply

Yes, I believe his "cameo" was only his voice in this scene.

reply

I did not see Dakota Fanning. What part did she play ?

Yeah, I didn't recognize her, so I went to the credits to find out who she played then back to that scene. Squeaky was the one who tried to assassinate Gerald Ford (in real life).
