Purpose of.........(Spoiler)......

I keep going back and forth on this flick and I get most of the reasons why Tarantino did the things he did, but what was the purpose of having the woman scream for what seemed to be a neverending time before DiCaprio torched her?

It was as if it was a homage to The Thing From Another World....

It reminds me of that quote from Spielberg about the end of Jaws where's he like, we already hooked the audience, they're not gonna care if the final scene doesn't make sense.

reply

I thought of The Thing (1982) as well or possibly something from Argento. Then I also thought it reminded me of Blade Runner (1982) the way Priss thrashed around and spazzed out before she died.

All I know is I’ve seen something like that before. Lol

reply

Briefly, I also thought of Evil Dead, but that would have been too late of a movie and not fit in with the Hollywood theme...that's why I thought of James Arness in The Thing From Another World....

reply

It reminded me of the jump scare when the blind woman jumps screaming out of the big pot of water in Antropophagus more than anything. I know that sounds weird, but it's exactly the kind of thing Tarantino would pay homage to.

reply

Could very well be

reply

I’ve read about Antropophagus many times but I’ve yet to see it.

reply

It's really good. I'm not even a big fan of cannibal movies, but that one is worth a watch.

reply

I’m starting it now. 😀 the one I’m watching is called The Savage Island... Ah! Tisa Farrow too!

reply

Tisa Farrow kicks ass in that, completely different character than I was used to seeing her as in Zombie.

reply

Check her out in The Last Hunter (1980) also, if you haven’t already.

reply

Will do! Thanks.

reply

Who cares why. It was effective.

reply

If you aren't going to add to the discussion, who cares what you think....I get so sick of the rude and immature around here...

reply

Oh well, hope you get over your sickness.

reply

It's funny because Uma Thurman kinda does the same thing in Pulp Fiction when she's brought back to life. Gets up, starts screaming and whaling.

reply

It was a fitting end after her disturbing pep talk in the car

reply

Or Ellie Driver in the trailer flopping around after the bride rips out her other eye.

reply

That's what came to my mind after that scene.

reply

Who played that role of the woman in the pool?

reply

Mikey Madison

reply

hey thanks
