This movie is a dream come true!

Just seems like a movie lovers dream!

Good way of putting it. I watched an extended piece all about the Bruce Lee element and it sounded like this was as much a tribute to the old film days as it was its own story.

yeah great description, it just seems so authentic and real. i'm sure this is the film tarantino has ultimately always wanted to make. he's the most devout film historian, lover, deep thinker, and devotee so this is his life's goal and life's work film. a film set in 1969, the most important year in the history of movies and Hollywood.

right before nudity started being completely free in america with a clockwork orange and other movies, as well as violence, and just a really exciting, free time in films, also the wild bunch came out in 1969, one of tarantino's all time favorite films. oh, it even has the perfect tarantino title with once upon a time in the title, like once upon a time in the west from sergio leone.

me too

i'm excited !!

reply

exactly, in both the trailers i've watched it looks amazingly great. i don't see how it could be anything less than a masterpiece.

has tarantino every disappointed? i don't think he ever has which is amazing because he's been directing progressive films for so long. the only film that might have gotten mixed reviews was jackie brown and jackie brown might be one of this best films, that's how amazing tarantino's career has been so far.

reply

he got mixed reviews for death proof, Jackie brown was mostly praised.

reply

not true, i heard jackie brown was the one which got mixed reviews and probably just because it was the follow up to pulp fiction. well if he got mixed reviews for death proof then critics are stupid as hell because that's one of the best films ever made. it's so exciting, thrilling, original, and amazing.

reply

I think Jackie Brown is his best film

reply

I also don't understand why Jackie Brown is so hated...... it's a GREAT film. Jackson kills his role and De Niro is fantastic.

It's maybe my second fav QT flick after Pulp Fiction.

reply

I agree about Jackie Brown, it is one of Tarantino's best films. And the film did get mostly positive reviews, but it was a disappointment at the box-office though. Although I like some of what he's done since then, I also feel that it's Jackie's BO failure made QT decide to appease his fanboy base by plunging into genre filmmaking ever since, with hit and miss results. He's stated that Once Upon is supposed to be the most similar in style of all post-Pulp films to Pulp Fiction, and I'm looking forward to seeing it because of that.

It's a revisionist history movie. It just seems like more farcical nonsense just like Inglorious Basterds was.

reply

Just so you know... you ask if Tarantino has ever disappointed, and I've never walked away from one of his films NOT disappointed. But his films are always interesting, even if I think they all go off the rails at some point, so it's nice to know that there are filmgoers who appreciate them exactly the way they are.

I dont know about "OUATIH".. I mean, Brad Pitt. He just drains tg he life out of anything he's in, even his scenes in "Inglorious Basterds".
