Didn't know that it was so bad.

Such a low rating. Wow. The first one was so praised. Looks like they need to reevaluate the next film.

It’s much better than what the haters are posting here. I really enjoyed it. The male antagonist is weak. Without a great villain you can’t have a great story, but both the actor and his script were off. Pedro Pascal does NOT impress me. I loved the first WW. I really like the second WW.

It’s really been a group pile-on of hate here. One ass-hat has SEVEN topics all spewing the same hate.

reply

Nope. It wasn't.

That you liked it tells exactly zero about the quality of a movie.

The movie IS bad.

reply

I am stunned by your eloquence. I guess that settles everything.

FYI, I was replying to a poster who is my friend.

reply

And if he is your friend your post becomes private or what?

Everything you post on a public forum is ... public.

reply

Right? Dude reacted as if someone interrupted a conversation in a restaurant 😂

reply

For your information, both the OP and the replier could have been eating in restaurants when they posted.

reply

YOU DONT HAVE FRIENDS.🤔

reply

I don't HATE it, but it was one of the worst movies I'd seen last year.
Production value was fantastic.
The story was trash.
THAT is why people don't like it. It's not a HATE pile on, it's that a majority really don't care for it, and it was majorly disappointing after how good the first one was.

reply

Production value was fantastic? Don't think i agree with that.

The cgi and the fx were like from ... '84, not 2021 ...

But yeah, was a major disappointment after the first one ...

reply

i mean, the visuals, audio, sets, lighting and all that were up to regular 100 million dollar movie levels - as expected.

reply

and Jepstein didn't kill himself

reply

did you watch it? What did you think?

reply

No I haven't watched it yet. I liked the first one, and was really surprised how much hate the second one is getting. Sometimes if a movie is getting lots of hate, I will for some reason like it. That may be the case here. We shall see once I watch it.

reply

I loved the first one, and I'm not even that big on super hero films. But it was well made and very entertaining. This new one... well, didn't surprass the original in any way, and kinda went the opposite direction, in my eyes. WE were all expecting and looking forward to a sequel equal or besting the first. not even close. thus bad reviews.

But, everyone is different. Give it shot.

In all honesty, I wish I had known about it BEFORE watching. It is the final movie that broke my movie watching's back. Now, I plan to ALWAYS WAIT on reviews before I support total garbage. The movie bar has really lowered itself in the last few years, sadly, probably because streaming wants to blind us in quantity over quality. Sad.

reply

Movies do seem to be getting worse, but there still are some gems out there. Reviews are helpful, but they don't always tell the whole story. There have been some really highly reviewed movies that I didn't care for much and visa versa. Reading reviews is still a good way to judge whether I should or shouldn't see a movie though, even though it isn't 100%.

reply

i have been cobbling together a personal system from metacritic, google reviews and IMDB. like IMDB, anything a 5.5 and above I MIGHT enjoy, even if that seems low. Metacritic seems decent, and recently noticed GOOGLE REVIEWS is on mark. like SOUL got a 4.6, nearly all positive, pretty sure I will love it, and WW84 got 2.6 with more 1's than the rest. very telling.

but see WW84 whenever it if free to you - dont pay for it - and see what you think.
I had to rewatch the first one again to flush 84 out of system! :D

reply

I liked it.

reply

I THOUGHT THE FIRST ONE WAS JUST OK...IT HAD NUMEROUS FLAWS...BUT EVERYONE ELSE LOVED IT...SO IM THINKING THE SECOND ONE WITH ALL ITS HATE MIGHT WORK FOR ME.🙂

reply

Maybe...stranger things have happened. I love some movies that are poorly reviewed, so it is possible to like this one still.

reply

SUICIDE SQUAD IS MY FAVORITE OF THE DC BUNCH...THESE DAYS IT SEEMS I HAVE DIFFERENT OPINION THAN THE CRITICAL MAJORITY QUITE OFTEN.THUS REVIEWS HAVE HELD LESS AND LESS SWAY WITH ME AS I GET OLDER.

reply

Can't agree with that one. Suicide Squad really didn't do what was promised. Lots of potential, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

reply

They had a ring of shit in the sky for some reason and twirky zombies. Really kak movie too saved by big Willy in my opinion.

reply

I liked it overall, but idk if I'd call it good. It wasn't boring, and parts of it were fun.

I liked the return of the love interest, and the way that went down. I liked Kristen Wiig until about halfway. They didn't really go all the way with the villains, but I thought they started out with interesting premises.

The action scene in Egypt is pretty sweet.

reply

Gal Gadot is a very poor actor and that tanked the movie really. One movie can be run on charm and personality and that worked in WW1 as the 'freshness' factor.

Second movie needed something special to counter the freshness going stale and to elevate it to the next level and a much stronger performance from the lead, but she is such a bad actor that she brought down an average movie to below average levels.

Plus the direction was very stale as well - the charm of a woman director directing a major superhero cant carry more than one movie. Nothing wrong in following a template/formula, if the execution is fresh and different. But this was just more of the same with an 80's setup and that setup was of no significance either

reply

Yeah Gadot doesn't show a whole lot of emotion, but I just took it as the Amazons are supposed to be these stone-faced women who hold back emotions. Even if that's so, it kind of got old. That's why I thought the part where she leaves Chris Pine forever was really good; she showed some feeling there.

reply

No, after a few weeks I have settled onto the fact that it’s a poor movie and I want my money back even though I watched it for free I still feel like I should get money back anyway for watching this.

I cannot blame the actors or the studio here. This is simply poor direction and writing and unfortunately Patty did both. So many plot holes and continuity errors. Including bringing back Chris Pine in the worst way possible when you have a literal wishing stone. Some dude gets raped as s result but most of us guys wouldn’t complain about that at all.

Anyway bullshit and worse than anything I’ve seen in 2020 and the first 40 years of my life as well.

reply

I suppose you can use Hillary Clinton if you want instead. But do you think when you drink water or take a shower the water may have also been against Gal Gadot when she showered or swam?

reply

I hope so. That’s the closest I’ll get to Gal Gadot I’m sure.

reply

Yeah, this was like Patty's SECOND script ever. Are you KIDDING ME, Hollywood? I know, I know, they are trying to lift up the whole WOMAN thing, but no matter the sex, the script was awful! The first one was done by like 5 veteran script writers. This one done by Patty and friend? god, what a huge mistake, I hope they learn for #3. I'm waiting for reviews FIRST for #3

reply

For sure they should at least get a decent story and writing team. Patty can just focus on directing again. We will see WW soon in justice league in the Snyder cut which should at least be a pallet cleanser before Patty takes over again.

reply

Maybe the studio rushed Patty into doing such a poor movie. Studios don't care about quality these days. They just want something there and couldn't care less about the quality. That is why so many movies(especially sequels) are so much worse than the original. Spiderman Far From Home was so bad. Rush, Rush, Rush. The Spiderman Homecoming was so good, but the sequel was just terrible. The worst sequel I have seen in a long time.

reply

At least Spider-Man stayed a bit consistent with his angst and good humor throughout. Not good but a solid follow up. WW84 was just all over the place.

reply

Far From Home was nowhere near as well written as Homecoming. I was very disappointed.

reply

I didn't think it was that bad. Unfortunately I didn't think it was that good either. I liked Gal Gadot but overall it felt like the tired end of the Christopher Reeve Superman movies.
But now I'm wondering if that comparison it just because this film is supposed to be set in the 80s - must admit it didn't seem particularly 80s to me.

reply

It wasn't horrible. But they should have done much more with Cheetah/Barbara--like have a live action adaptation of the 'Cheetah on the prowl' fisher price book. She did not have any purpose in the film. If they had given her something actually to do and made defeating her the main plot, that would have been interesting. Max should have been Barbara's father or her secretary.

And Steve comes back vs Diana meeting up with Steve Trevor's descendant? Yes this would have been wholly plausible bc it was done before.

Not to mention Steve was wowed by an Escalator and subway which had been around (however in different styles) since his time. He also would know what the fourth of july was since that was an unpaid holiday for federal employees in the 1800's and fireworks were already been brought over from China.

Jenkins is stupid, thinks her audience is stupid or both.
