Why was she competing with adults?

Plus she should have been older, like 16, so that we could see a blossoming woman fighting for recognition as an adult.

I feel like they missed the mark on this.

Yeah, odd.

I think it was because she was 'special' enough (ie. daughter of Zeus) to match the adult Amazonians in strength, cunning and speed?

That obstacle course was like American Ninja Warrior without the nets and padding and water for when people fall. Sure Wonder Kid could survive a misstep, but how many regular Amazons were killed or seriously injured every year in that contest?
