Was it just me or was the "Bad Guy" underwhelming?

The whole film was a let down but did anyone else find the bad guy to be rather boring? Maybe that is what they were going for but he was neither an evil genius or charismatic or anything really.

Or did they think Gadot would just carry the whole film and no one would care about the mostly boring support cast?

I don't think this is the kind of "new" comic book movies started by X-men and Iron Man, the sort of movies target young adults. Can be enjoyed by both adults and children.

This movie I think is going back to the old roots, made mostly for children. Characters are more simple and cartoonish, especially the bad guys. The bad guys have no agenda or motivation of political level, which would have been too mature to targeted viewers, the little girls, which I bet you are not.

Comics werent originally intended for children. The Comic Code Authority censorship however ensured to kill almost all comics not aimed at children and this has resulted in extremely poor diversity of comic genres in the west. Lack of such censorship is why the Japanese Manga did a lot better.

I guess so.

He was way too over the top for me. Got obnoxious to watch towards the end. And a shame, since we see him on another popular show called The Mandalorian and we love him there.

Also, was the film trying to redeem him at the end because he hugged his son? He was slimy from the beginning and caused so much pain, fear, bloodshed and global misery through his lifetime of lying and deceit. I don't think I could easily forgive someone like that.

reply

He's a Saturday-morning cartoon villain. Of course we're gonna forgive him.

reply

cheeta should have transformed earlier in the film and gone around attacking people.

reply

the Cheetah should have been the bad person and the whole plot should have been Wonder Woman stopping her. No need for Max.

reply

well, the whole plot was very underwhelming, and that dragged the "bad guy" down with it.

reply

Yeah, it would have been better if the antagonist was more threatening.
And also if he met a grisly end. If they're trying to channel the 1980s here, then we should have seen some Indiana Jones type stuff with the villain dying.

reply

I still don't understand his powers or motivation...

reply

There is nothing to understand. Its a plot hole
