Ruined my Christmas Day

The movie equivalent of a lump of coal.

i'm sorry to hear that. it was on my short list of things to watch that day but i chose something else.

the only situation i could think of enjoying it on that day would have been if i had the next day off and i watched it on the couch with others and had a fun time laughing at it.

Speak for yourself. I want a lump of coal.

The funny thing is. There actually a movie that came out this year about a kid who gets a lump of coal and hire a hit-man to kill santa. Its more entertaining than this movie.

I watched it the day after Christmas, but it was the film we used to break in a brand-new $2300 65" OLED. Sadly, it was an underwhelming experience simply because the film wasn't very good.

It seemed like a sure thing after the success of the first film and some very good trailers for 84, but we would've been better off rewatching 2001 or something.

Its strange that the 2 big movies that came out 2020 to sort of help 'save Hollywood/save cinema' both underwhelmed/disappointed just about everyone (and were both WBros)

reply

Yeah. Both Tenet and WW were questionable. They WOW'd technically but failed narratively.

I would like to know how well WW would've done if that had released it in Tenet's spot and made it theatrical-only. The box office data on that would be quite interesting.

I'll at least give WB credit for having the balls to actually release a few big films in theaters when no one else did. I don't understand why others who dumped some of their films straight to streaming didn't try to at least make SOME money theatrically on those titles, but I admittedly don't understand the economics of Hollywood.

reply

Hmm. I quite enjoyed it.
