I'd probably wish for something like a proper Terminator 3 written/directed by Cameron and released in 1996 (so I guess once id wished it id just go on eBay and buy the bluray for like a couple of pounds, or maybe just head to a store and buy it)
for me theres only 4 options but they depend on the actual powers of the Rock...
for example Is it a wishing rock thats ALL Powerful, Meaning anything is possible Including bring back people from the dead, literally reshaping the universe and Supernatural powers
Or A Maximally Powerful Wishing Rock, which basically means in can do things all Logically possible but not supernatural
So If It was Maximally Powerful, My wish would be very simply, MONEY, I would wish for like 999 Trillion dollars
If it was ALL Powerful, My wish would be 1 of 3.
1. I would Wish to be able to LIVE for as long as I want, But NOT forever, as living forever would be Horrifying in trillions of years from now when I would be alone in space for all eternity....My biggest fear is Dying, So I would Love to know, I could live as long as I want and whenever the time comes that LIVING is Horrifying and could choose to Die
2. Bringing back my loved ones, My father
3. I would wish that some sort of God or Theology is true....I have the opinion, there is no god and the moment we die we enter eternal nothingness, NOTHING Haunts me more than eternal nothingness, I would rather Burn in Hell for all eternity than face eternal nothingness.
So My wish would be, either
A. The rock would reveal to me IF there is a god ..........and If one of The religions on earth is actually the correct representatives of that God, IF So, I would then follow that religion and then my biggest fears would vanish knowing that there is god and an afterlife like Heaven exists
Or B. The Rock reveals to me There is no God and all religions are just made up, I would then wish for one of the religions to be True, Probably Christianity where theres a heaven and an after life.
But if it is eternal nothingness you won't really have anything to worry about or fear as when the time comes you won't know anything .. unless some part of your essence/consciousness is somehow aware of an eternal black void or something and you're somehow floating around in it idk how as your brain would've ceased to function and eventually be dust
Unless you wake up in some kind of techno pod.. and see [game over] on the ultra advanced VR screen
But if it is eternal nothingness you won't really have anything to worry about or fear as when the time comes you won't know anything
^^^
This is what haunts my dreams !
The certainty that the moment I die, I wont even know I died or ever lived, I wont even be able to have the thought "OMG it happened"
The moment I die, Its Just NOTHINGNESS, for eternity, I'll never EVER, EVER.......EVER be able to live again....time will go on, in 999 Trillion years from right now, I'll still be GONE, that time will actually take place, try to imagine how long 1 Million Years is, try to Imagine how long 1 Billion Years is, That time is actually going to take place, and I wont even notice it.....999 Trillion years worth of time will happen and I wont notice it and That 999 Trillion Years isnt even .000000000000000001 of ETERNITY.....Literally NOTHINGNESS forever, Never even realizing it and It WILL Never chance, The Moment you die you can never have another thought again......for me NOTHING is more horrifying, Thats why I would GLADLY rather spend an eternity in HELL where I still EXIST and can have thoughts.
I get what you are saying though , Because it took me a while to realize That I would never actually have to face the thing I fear most.
for a long time I was horrified of Eternal NOTHINGNESS, for me I feel every living thing in the universe is heading right for it and there nothing any of us can do about it....and that haunted me, The certainty that NO Matter what I did I cant escape it and its waiting for me.
But then it hit, I'll never actually have to face it....The thing I fear most, I'll never even know It happened to me, I'll never be able to comprehend or recognize "It Happened"
But unfortunately That just made things worse for me and even MORE SO made me realize how horrifying Eternal nothingness is
at some point in my life, theres going to be a point where I'm going to be alive and Literally 10 seconds later I'm going to be dead.....that last 10 seconds rather I see my death coming or not is going to be the last 10 seconds I ever have of existing, The moment it ends, I WILL NEVER have another thought, I Will never know I ever lived or Died, I Will never know I had a family.....for ALL eternity, Literally forever, NEVER ENDING, I Will cease to exist and can never exist again EVER...and I'll never even know it or realize it........
for me, Nothing could be more horrifying and If I had one wish in Life it would be to avoid this fate
That's some sinister pondering there. I've thought about this too and have come to the conclusion that there must be some kind of continuity of consciousness. There is no possibility of experiencing "nothing", the idea of "floating" endlessly trough darkness and space is rather silly and nonsensical. I think the moment our consciousness ends with death at some other point it seemlesly continues somewhere else. I think logic mandates this somehow.

^^^
I agree, We Will never experience "Nothing"
But what I mean by Nothingness and what I believe will happen the moment we die is......
Exactly what happened Before we were born.
Nothingness to me is the exact state of "Before we were born"
before we were born, Time was happening, I born in the 1986....The 1970s actually happened, 1900 to 1969 actually happen, That time actually took place
The 1800s, Literally 100 years worth of time happened, and I didnt even notice it
depending on what you believe either 6000 years or near 14 billion years worth of time actually happened before I was born
from what I've read, If you are religious/Christian The bible I guess claims the earth and universe is 6000 years old, Of course based on everything Ive read, Literally all evidence 100% proved this wrong, but I guess thats what The bible says...
Science of course says and has evidence that the universe is around 14 Billion years old and earth is around 4 or 5 billion years old...
The Point is, regardless if its 6000 or 14 Billion......That time actually happened, 6000 to 14 Billion Years worth of time happened and I didnt even notice it, that amount of time went by faster than the blink of an eye, I couldnt even have the thought "I dont exist"
for me that is nothingness....the exact state we were BEFORE we were born
So I agree theres no possibility of experiencing "Nothingness" But for me every living thing in The Universe heading right toward "Nothingness" and that fact that well never even know it happened to us is what haunts me most.....
I read a quote somewhere and It absolutely haunts me, It goes something like
"Life is just a 60 to 80 years vacation from from Nothingness/non existence"
and If you think about it, Its dead right....
we didnt exist for 14 billions years since the universe began, somehow we hit the cosmic Jackpot and get 60 to 80 years of consciousness and then it ends and we return to the exact state of non existence just like before we were born and That Will last for all eternity and can never change
as for our consciousness somehow continuing after our death......NOTHING in the universe would make me happier, that is Literally the answer to my worst fear.
but I just dont see how anyone could even think thats a remote possibility let alone truly believe its going to happen.
absolutely everything we've learned about consciousness,The Mind and what makes us "Us" Is the brain
When The Brain dies, theres nothing to Continue on....consciousness is only possible with a working brain.
again The Moment after we die, our brain is in the exact same state it was before we were born.
we didnt have consciousness before we were born, because we didnt have a working brain.
consciousness is a Product of the Brain
I see no reason to believe consciousness could exist without a brain and I see no reason to believe we wont revert back to the exact same state of NON existence before we got a brain and consciousness after we die and lose our brain and consciousness
I mean we know its possible for "Nothingness" to be!
or we know its possible for us NOT to Exist, again time did go on before we were born.
we know its possible for us NOT to Exist. we know its possible for us to be in a state of NON existence where consciousness does not exist
I see no reason to expect Us not go back to NOT Existing again the moment our brain dies.
The only possible defeater for this is a SOUL.
that some god has made us with a soul that live on after our death
But there is zero evidence for a soul, Its by definition UN-falsifiable
you cant see the soul, you cant measure, It has no weight, its indistinguishable from being Non existent
lol whod have thought thered be this level of existential discussion on the WW84 board. on the Tree of Life or The Fountain board maybe but no its WW84
Well I certainly can't prove the continuation theory. It's more of a intuitive thing. For example Immanuel Kant's whole philosophy was routed in these fundamental questions. Is there a beginning and an end of time and space? What can we hope? What is time? His logical deductions imply that our conscience only "constructs" time and space. I don't think there would be a continuous conscience that remembers things from an earlier life. But with indefinite time (possibly) available, every existence will ultimately manifest itself in some kind of consciesness.
"...Thats why I would GLADLY rather spend an eternity in HELL where I still EXIST and can have thoughts."
From what I heard about it, sounds like a bad trade-off. Like preferring Thor: The Dark World over The Dark Knight Rises or Daredevil (2003) over Wonder Woman (2017). But to each their own.

^^^
do you consider TDKR and Daredevil good to great movies?
You're in eternal nothingness right now, our lives are not important in any way as far as the universe is concerned.
^^^
I'm sorry but this is the most non nonsensical statement I've ever read
1st I agree our lives have no Intrinsic value and The Universe cares nothing about "Us"
But your statement of "You're in eternal nothingness right now" Is literally incoherent
If you read any of my post, I specifically explained what "eternal nothingness" is to me....and Its the exact state we were in before we were born....NON Existent, Non Being, Cant even comprehend we dont exist....
By definition, I cant be in eternal nothingness NOW because I EXIST..... If I comprehend my Own Existence, If I'm able to think and be a where. By my definition of Eternal Nothingness, Its Impossible for me to be in eternal nothingness
You may have some completely out of the box definition of eternal nothingness where you believe you could somehow be in eternal nothingness NOW while Living and Existing....
buuuut I gave my definition of eternal nothingness, and Your statement of "You're in eternal nothingness right now"....Is incoherent and Logically IMPOSSIBLE given my definition...
AS long I exist and am a where of my existence I can NOT be experiencing eternal nothingness now...
again its possible you didnt read my entire post and didnt see my clear definition of eternal nothingness, But your statement is Logically impossible with my definition
I mean This basic Laws of Logic......something is either A or Not A
Eternal Nothingness to me is NON Existences....I cant be experiencing eternal nothingness right NOW If I'm currently EXISTING!
I cant be wrong about that even if I'm in the Matrix.
please do I little research on "I think therefor I am" before responding
also, If your only point is that you cant be certain about anything, Please dont bother...
if you really want to get desperate enough to start down the road of "How do you know reality is real".....it doesnt interest me in the least
if your desperate enough to play the "ya but everything you think could be false, You could be a brain in a vat" .....keep playing that card by yourself
I'm more than happy to continue on Believing reality is real, even if that can never be 100% proven in a way that someone CAN NOT BE WRONG...
I exist, I can think, I'm aware, even if that Is the matrix....Its by definition still Not Eternal Nothingness...
even If I'm brain in a vat.....and its feeding my every thought....Thats still not eternal Nothingness....
I dont need to PROVE I exist....I just need to prove that Your statement of "You're in eternal nothingness right now" is logically Impossible given my definition of Eternal nothingness
No matter what state I'm in....Matrix, Vat....I'm experiencing something, I'm aware, I exist.....by definition that cant be NOTHINGNESS....
My definition of eternal nothingness is the exact state we were in before we were born.
I cant prove I'm not in The Matrix....but I dont have to....even if I'm in The Matrix, I'm experiencing something....therefor I cant be in eternal nothingness now
There literally no way for you to win this argument given my definition of eternal nothingness...
If I cared to argue it, YOU Could probably win the "you cant be certain about anything" argument...
But your statement of "You're in eternal nothingness right now" can NOT be true in any way given my definition of eternal nothingness
I might not be real, reality may not be real, we could all be living in the Matrix....But I'm still experiencing that simulated reality....and thats NOT eternal NOTHINGNESS!
The cornerstone of your argument is 'your definition' of eternal nothingness, which by my definition, is wrong.
^^^
I have no problem with that....
thats why I specifically said and NOTED what my definition was
and Its why, your statement of ""You're in eternal nothingness right now" cant be True and is non nonsensical given My definition...
But I completely agree if you have a different definition of Eternal Nothingness then your statement could make sense....But In that case we are NOT talking about the same thing
If my definition of eternal nothingness is in fact complete NON existence, the complete absence of any thought or experiences......If just not possible for me to be in "eternal nothingness right now"...given that I am in fact experiencing something right NOW(even if its simulated).
If you have a different definition of eternal nothingness where it makes logical sense that ""You're in eternal nothingness right now"....thats fine, I wont remotely argue....we just arent talking about the same thing any more
our definitions of eternal nothingness are drastically far apart, theres nothing to talk about anymore...
Regarding a simulation - It depends on how you look at it.
If there is a defined set of rules that governs the simulation then every interaction between every particle, quanta of energy, pressure-differential, planetary body or even the neurons in your brain are pre-determined by the state of the universe at it's inception.
Every thought your physical brain has ever had is the result of every interaction that has ever occurred in the entire universe up until that point in time, since the brain is in-fact a physical apparatus that consists of matter that was once something else and will become part of something else long after you are gone.
What you perceive as 'making a choice' is actually your physical brain processing input and producing an output - all of which are governed by this same process.
If you were to pause and rewind the simulation your brain would produce the same output given the same input every single time - the input would be the same every time since the state of the entire simulation at any given time is the sum of all other previous states of the universe since the beginning of simulated time.
This means that there is no actual decision being made and that all outcomes whether they be colliding planets or what burger you order for dinner is pre-determined and unchangeable. In the simulation you are merely following the pre-established physical laws of the simulated universe. This means that you aren't really 'thinking' at all since everything is pre-determined. We are just simulated to perceive it as thought.
Though this is true for a simulation, are there any parallels for us in this universe?
We've discovered some of the rules that govern the planets so we can predict where they are relative to the sun at any point in the past/future, but we don't have the means to say where every atom of each planet was since it's too complex - like modelling the brain activity of every human being, but it's just atoms/energies/etc so not impossible.

^^^
Yes But I'm still experiencing it....regardless if its all simulated and Is all Pre-determined, regardless if I have no choice....
There is still something that is happening that I am experiencing.....Which again Is in direct conflict with my definition of eternal Nothingness...
the only possible way I could be experiencing Eternal Nothingness RIGHT NOW given my definition is if.........I was never born and I was still NON existent
It does not matter what The ACTUAL reality is....whatever is happening right now is Something that I'm experiencing and what I'm experiencing right Now is NOT Eternal Nothingness given that my definition of eternal nothingness is complete non existence and the complete inability to Experience Anything.
again I think we agree on everything....I dont disagree with anything you've said...Its just I cant get past your statement of "You're in eternal nothingness right now"
as far as I'm concerned That statement Literally Can NOT be true or be Logical given my definition....and I'm not sure how it could be true or logical given anyone else's definition of NOTHINGNESS either.
I think My definition of Nothingness would fit a lot of other people's definition of nothingness as well....
The Only other definition of Nothingness is The Scientific Definition that lawrence krauss uses to explain "A Universe from Nothing"...which is There was no Matter, energy or Time...
that basically the Laws of Physics allows literally everything to come from the nothingness of Empty Space since Entry space actually weighs something....
Actually There are 4 Major Scientific definitions of "Nothingness"
All of which though would be Impossible for Your Statement of "You're Experiencing Eternal Nothingness now" to be True...
we clearly arent In Empty Space RIGHT NOW, where all matter, energy and even time is non existence
even by the Scientific Definitions of NOTHINGNESS its not logically possible I could be experiencing RIGHT NOW
There would have to Be NOTHINGNESS right now..... no matter, space, time or energy for myself or anyone else to be experiencing eternal Nothingness right now....
I think you just made a bad statement, I think your real intentions was to correctly point out "ours lives mean nothing to the universe" but first said something that doesnt follow or really make sense in trying to articulate your correct point of "ours lives mean nothing to the universe"
"3. I would wish that some sort of God or Theology is true....I have the opinion, there is no god and the moment we die we enter eternal nothingness, NOTHING Haunts me more than eternal nothingness, I would rather Burn in Hell for all eternity than face eternal nothingness."
That is the most egoistic thing I've ever heard. Because you fear nothingness you sentence billions of people to an eternity of torture in hell.

No...
since it would be my wish...I wouldnt wish for there to be a hell...only That there was a God and some sort of heaven(and maybe not even a god, I would really have to research and think about it)
There are nearly 30 thousand versions of Christianity and many dont believe or accept HELL...They dont believe its possible a loving god could send anyone to Hell for eternity..
and again, since its my wish, I may not pick Christianity...I only said Christianity because I thought it made my point clear for my desire for an Afterlife like Heaven...
So Yes I agree it would be Horrific and EVIL to wish a scenario into existence that would result in Billions or Trillions going to Hell....Luckily though I would never do that.....Oddly though, Thats exactly what The Christian god has apparently Done though.....since He Knowingly Created Mankind and The Universe with absolute Knowledge The Majority of his creation would end up Suffering for Eternity burning in Hell.
from what I understand thats definitely happening ....but according to the dogma, even if multiple religious are praising the same god, Only one religious can be exactly right.
from what I understand theres actually over 30 thousand different type of Christianity...They are all Praising the same god, But if you get down to it, almost every one of the will tell you that if you dont believe exactly what they believe you are going to hell.
for example, I watched a video, where these 2 churches believed exactly the same things, literally everything, except, one church was set in stone that If you are gay you are going to hell, the other church at least entertained the idea the Being gay wasnt a Sin.....These 2 religions praise the same god, believe 99.9 % of the same things, Yet 1 churh will tell you the other church arent real Christians and their members are destined for hell.
I would like to to think PERSONALLY that if the abrahonic god/Jesus is real....Then any of The religious that are praising and worshiping him, anyone who honesty believes and dedicates thier life to good and to god would then make it to heaven....
But according to the dogma...thats not the case...according to what most believe...the overwhelming majority of people that worship the abrahonic god are destined for hell because they unfortunately picked the wrong church that got something slightly wrong.
well, if we believe that the bible is the word of god delivered to humans as it claims that one should at least follow the dogma laid out in the bible, yes? Well, if you are wearing clothing that has more than one fabric in it - you are going to hell.
You'd get so bored eventually, and when the universe experienced its heat-death, trillions of years from now, you'd be freezing your butt off all alone on some starless asteroid with an entire eternity still ahead of you.
