Didnt remotely feel the same without Wan Directiing....

The atmosphere felt more like Anabelle 3 than the first two Conjuring movies. I agree that it should have been better if it was directed by Wan.

I saw this earlier today, and while it was a buzz to be back in a movie theatre after so long (18 months for me) sadly I found it a very average entry to the series. It certainly wasn’t terrible but I found it harder to overlook the liberties the filmmakers took in dramatising a supposedly “true story” than I did with the original film. Worst of all I wasn’t really scared once, which surely has to be a benchmark for a film in this genre.

The performances were pedestrian and Vera Farmiga especially seemed less engaged than she had in the previous films. I couldn’t help feeling she is way better than the script and director allowed her to be here.

A non-frightening 2.5/5 from me.

The problem is not the direction. It's the script!

To me the movie was "incomprehensible" It was just all over the place. Its not like anything James Wan was involved in. I totally agree with the person that called it over dramatized. When you take something based on a true incident and make it completely unbelievable, than it simply becomes an over dramatized fiction.
In the conjuring series I was very unimpressed with this one.
