Only 20 years?

Spoiler

She only received 20 years for a double murder, Dual attemped murders, and fraud? Seems kind of light...

reply

Hard to prove the father & sister were murders, even with her confession (which she could credibly claim was facetious)

Maybe we can assume she got a plea bargain. Or maybe it's a commentary on how beautiful people, women especially, get lower sentences than the uglies of the criminal world

EDIT: Listened to the commentary; Feig claims it's because she was justified by the father being abusive and sister being a blackmailing druggie

reply

I just assumed it was because she was such a master manipulator that she'd find a way to get the lightest sentence possible.

Though that would be hard to do considering what they had of her on video, when she shot her husband in cold blood and planned to frame her husband and her best friend for murder-suicide.

I guess she found a way, though.

Ikr? I thought they meant 20 years to life. I can only think being attractive and having a good lawyer helped. They probably blamed faith for corrupting her and the extoration threat and heroin use made faith a perfect victim to blame. She would only be 50 when she got out, and she would probably get out early for good behavior/ overcrowding.

Yes I agree with all of the points above: She could easily lie her way through minimizing her role in both deaths.

FATHER: She could say it was mostly the twin's idea, and plus the father was abusive and deserved it.

SISTER: They started fighting in the water and pushing each other down, and it turned into self-defense.

She got off super easy. If I were the judge, it would have been 20 years to life!
