So close to being amazing....

If you haven't seen it, this is an excellent movie that falls apart a bit at the end...but highly recommended. Now, spoilers ahead...

Some of the imagery in this movie is downright scary and I'm still a little spooked having finished it about an hour ago. Dreams are something humans don't fully understand and we don't understand why our own brain terrifies us on occasion with nightmares and do they have any real meaning? We don't know. The unknown is scary and this movie plays perfectly on that. If you haven't seen the movie DREAMSCAPE, I highly recommend it for a similar effect. Great movie.
The ending of COME TRUE just didn't come together as strongly as I had hoped. The more I think about it, the more I like it. It's a unique ending, but the biggest weakness of the ending is that all those images during the movie that were so scary and had me on the edge of my seat at the end were sort of tossed aside as we learn that they were nothing more than dreams or images made up by the mind. It would have been a lot more scary to leave that open somehow that the research group had somehow figured out a way to enter or transverse into a world that our dreams stem from and/or that "dream world" was then able to enter our world.

Definitely see it....great 80s vibe also IMO and the atmosphere through much of the movie was terrifying.

i haven't seen dreamscape, but definitely would like to based on what you've said here.

i agree with a lot of what you've said above. this is an incredibly well done movie. the nightmare sequences have a fantastic feel that reminded me a bit of the end of fulci's the beyond. & the entire tone of the film was just great - i kept thinking of michael mann's 80s movies, or miami vice, even, with the cool synth score. & winding refn's drive, too.

it also brought to mind midnight head movies, like beyond the black rainbow or something like that.

i do think it didn't quite come together in the last third, kinda fell off from that nightmarish feel that worked so perfectly for the first 2/3s. and that ending...errrf. i just finished watching it, and i'd like to let it rattle around in my head a bit before making my final judgement. but...i think i might have kinda loved it.

i would definitely recommend this movie. it's imperfect, but it's really, really well done imo.

honestly, the first thing i felt after i finished watching it was 'i want to watch it again right now' & i love it when movies have that effect on me.

Just watched this for a second time as the images keep popping in my head from time to time and my mind tends to forget details quickly so I wanted to experience it again and see what it felt like the second time around. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the images haunt me on some level. This is a VERY underappreciated movie. I can't believe there is not more discussion here about it.

It's an excellent movie, very well acted and held my interest from the minute it started until the minute it ended. I never guessed what was actually going on. I almost wish they'd make a sequel, showing how she is now. Maybe that she woke up but brought some bad stuff back with her. Something along those lines.

"brought some bad stuff back with her"....I love the idea.
