Too busy, but still fun

They packed this film too full of plotlines and ideas. The headmaster and his girlfriend, the moody kid played by Asa Butterfield, Don's romance and typical trouble-fitting-in-at-prep-school, the mysteries of the school, fracking, and monsters. There's so much going on, how could they have paid every plotline off in a satisfying way?

Now, at least it was bursting full of good stuff. Simon Pegg is always great, Michael Sheen was fun as this quirky, clueless dodo, and the plot with Willoughby was quite moving (I thought). So what if it was too much? It was too much of a good thing.

Overall, it's maybe not a top-notch film, but it's not a bad way to spend an evening.
