Spider symbolism

I think there are a good few examples of spider symbolism. I like mysteries so I always think that weaving a mystery is part of this. The spider being a weaver of webs that trap. The mystery writer Agatha Christie used the name of Ariadne Oliver for one of her characters. I'm sure that she was aware that Ariadne was a Greek Goddess associated with the spider and weaving when she did this.
