Did they want us to feel bad for Sweat?

Great show and acting by Dano, but it seems like they tried to him way too sympathetic to me. I doubt he was pure evil, but the fact he shot a cop multiple times before running him over with his car says everything about him. And they had him say, "I'm sorry" after and "I didn't kill a cop" to Matt. Is there any actual evidence to support he felt any kind of remorse? Or was that just created for the show?

Didn't really care what's gonna happen to Sweat after they showed what he had done.

Yeah. Hacksaw was definitely more evil though. I had no prior knowledge of their crimes before watching this movie and it hit me like a ton of bricks once they revealed their wrongdoings. Some slick filmmaking there from Mr. Stiller.
