water as kryptonite doesn't make any sense

How does the man shower? Is he near death every time he comes out of it?
How does he drink water or consume any other liquids?
Our *bodies* are 70% water.

And could there be anything lamer than an indestructible man drowning in a puddle of water?

drowning is his kryptonite not just water. its common to all human beings. for david its more thats it.

Except that the nozzles in his room wouldn't have drowned him, but were supposed to deter. How does that work exactly?

I thought he's just weakened every time he comes out of it - loses his super strength & invulnerability

And I think the lameness was the point - besides, killing Superman with a little rock is pretty lame, too
