fantastic movie. (no spoilers)

i dont know whats the problem with the critics. they are all idiots if they say this is a bad movie. the movie deliverd and was brilient. exectly what i anticipated and more. they probably thought they will get some lame ass marvel movie with tons of jokes. this was not what the movie was about. it was story driven and not action driven. off course there are action scenes but they are not the main spotlight.

great movie 9/10 for me.

Are you a student of the poetry of ee cummings?

reply

Ha! Good one!

reply

You didn’t laugh your ass off when David Dunn, a man who can bench 800 lbs, bend steel and has the strength of a superhuman couldn’t muster the strength to fight off 1 average man drowning him in a 3 inch puddle? Seriously? That was beyond preposterous. If you’re gonna kill the guy via drowning, and the beast himself can’t do it at least have a 2000 lb piece of steel fall on him or something. The hero of the story got a feeble, pathetic, not believable death. What’s fantastic about that?

I didn't love that scene, but you have to remember that water is basically Dunn's kryptonite. Being submerged for so long weakened him significantly, and even his son said, "Help my dad, he's very weak right now."

He wasn't the superhero version of himself. He wasn't going to be bending any steel after being underwater for so long.

reply

no i dident laughed my ass off because it made sense because he was drowning in the water tank for 5 min before that and was weakend compleatly by it. next time actually pay attention to the movie. this is a realistic super hero movie not a marvel flick.

reply

There were secret society people w/guns who didn't shoot david 'cause they know it was useless.

reply

I loved it. As much as I enjoy Marvel and DC I'm glad that people can do something different and M. Night Shyamalan nailed it with this one.

reply

Agreed. The critics are smoking crack on this one. It was much better than I was expecting after hearing all the negative feedback.

Unless it was just a matter of all the disappointed reviewers wanting one thing and getting another, I really don't understand all the negativity. This may not be a GREAT movie but it is solidly good and deserving of a positive score.

In fact, I'd say it's the best movie he's made since The Village. This is the first movie since that one where I felt some of the old M. Night Magic that characterized his first four flms.

It's expertly shot and directed, the performances are great, and it goes in some totally unexpected but interesting directions. And I'll say this, M. Night really stretched his $20 million budget a lot farther than I could've imagined.

My main criticisms are that there are some moments that are not well-explained and that strain credulity, and I have mixed feelings on the ending. But overall l definitely liked it and feel bad for M. Night having to weather a bunch of unwarranted criticism. He must have fucked the mom of someone in the Film Critics' Guild and word got around.

reply

I felt nothing was terribly wrong with it. I mean apart from its ending that I found hard to process, I was by no means let down by it. Nitpicking aside, it was a captivating film experience from start to finish. I think in time it will go down as a very misunderstood and underappreciated film. Maybe not many expected the unexpected from M.Night.

Oh, about them Marvel jokes... well, humor is subjective. For me, more than a few of those “lame ass” jokes tend to land. (Glass had its humorous moments btw.) Speaking of Marvel, as if I haven’t heard/read enough Marvel/MCU/superhero bashing by many who actually liked Glass. In fact, slamming Marvel appears to be the go-to for those who appreciated Glass and inevitably ended up comparing M. Night’s film to the more mainstream superhero films. Let me sum up youse guys’ feelings...

... Glass is a challenging and wholly unique superhero film whereas the mighty true-to-its-source-material Marvel (let’s throw in the once dark af DC for good measure) is safe and for the juvenile! You felt negatively about Glass? Ah, you must be one of those Unbreakable haters that expected another shiny Marvel flick - that I’m too good for - based on all the not-so superhero-ish trailers of Shyamalan’s films!

Yawn. Two things: 1) yeah, let’s erase history and ignore how Marvel & Stan Lee were essentially responsible for making people in general look at superheroes differently by having these superpowered and larger than life characters be flawed individuals who dealt with real conflict. If you think the MCU doesn’t honor that, well agree to disagree. 2) Amusing how Glass, like all the superhero movies the snobs love to criticize, is technically a Disney movie itself! XD But I digress.

Glass is indubitably wonderfully unique & staggering. It’s cool when comic films take a way different approach to what’s considered standard (you snob bastards!). But, it’s funny how many of y’all don’t see the irony with your Marvel belittling. Or, you don’t care. And I get it — yer bunch is sophisticated and absolutely not hypocritical... I wonder what Mr. Glass would have to say about this... so give yourself a well-earned pat on the back! XD Anywho, I should mention that before Glass, the last time I left a movie theater feeling so overwhelmed by everything that I had just seen (I go to the movies pretty damn often and watch all types) was when I came out of seeing... the last Avengers film. You know, the film that ended with one of the most sinister and unexpected endings in blockbuster cinema history (or any film, really). Oh no! Glass gave me those same feels. Hmm.... etcetera.

reply

I give it 8/10. It had its inevitable problems but it was still good.

reply

M Night is actually my favorite director.

Unbreakable is one of my all time favorite movies

Split was my favorite movie of 2017

Glass was my most anticipated movie of 2019....

with that being said.

dear god I feel Gutted...talk about completely shitting the bed.

could be one of the worst endings I've ever seen

May be the worst example I've ever seen of a Trilogy having 2 great films and Then Ending With A complete DISASTER.

I simply do not see how anyone can defend this movie

M Night has always been controversial...I could understand how on many of his movies people could either love them or hate them...

But with this movie, Its so horrifically Wrong...If you defend it, I can only assume your some Nutcase fan of his

The worst part is, There was a good movie somewhere in this abomination

The first 15 mins was Amazing...watching Dunn Hunt The Beast was everything you could have wanted.

but unfortunately it goes down hill from there...

Thats what this movie should have been.

unfortunately, I think due to a Low Budget, Night had to set most of the movie in the Mental Hospital...

I dont consider the middle part/Hospital part of the movie awful...It was decent, completely unnecessary and pointless but decent enough.

I would have much rather had an actual good story and Movie for the middle part, watching Dunn and his son continue tracking The Beast, and Glass come into the story in a completely new way...

but the real crime here is the ending...

Much like the season finale of DEXTER....it was so bad, I'm just gonna to pretend it doesnt exist and think of a new ending to this trilogy

when I think about Dexter, I literally dont even recognize the ending happened, I have my own way the story should end thats how I remember it

I'm truly afraid I'm not going to be able to watch, love and enjoy Unbreakable and Split anymore now because now watching them every time I think of how amazing they are, I'm immediately going to know how the story ultimately ends...

so for me, I will literally never watch Glass Past the point where The Beast is getting ready to be shot.

I will forever pretend that after that point the ending does NOT EXIST and I Will think of a different ending.

its very rare that a movie is horrifically awful it can potential destroy the 2 movies that came before it.

Glass certainly is that movie(or at least the final 15 minutes is)....fortunately for me, I will not let this Criminally awful movie ruin Split and Unbreakable....I will truly convince myself that last 15 minutes does not exist.

I rate the movie up until the point where the beast gets shot and M Night then proceeds to direct maybe the worst ending in cinematic history as a 7/10...

in fact I wont argue with anyone who enjoyed the movie up until that point...

but I'm sorry, If you still enjoyed the movie or come away thinking the movie was good after the final 15 minutes...

You simply have to be biased...

reply

LOL.

Well, sorry to hear you didn't like it.

I think it's his best movie since The Village and is significantly better than Split. Split was pretty good. But Glass is a much richer, more interesting production.

reply

just the fact that you said david dunn vs the beast in the first 15 min was amazing and the rest was shit tells me your a braindead marvel/dc fan who expected this movie to be a super hero movie when its not. its a drama film about the idea of super heros in real life. and this is how it supposed to be judged. clearly you are the problem not the movie.

reply

me your a braindead marvel/dc fan who expected this movie to be a super hero movie when its not

^^

just the fact that you said this makes me Literally Pity you

its clear you for some reason you have a deep hatred toward Marvel/DC movies....You probably wrongly think your too smart and Mature to watch them...

but the facts are Your hatred for them has resulted in you almost certainly Missing some true great movies.

You may feel tough and "smart" for not watching Marvel and DC...but really you've only caused yourself to miss some absolutely amazing movies ...I would feel like such an idiot if I missed out on seeing movies like The Dark Night, The Avengers and Logan because I was too stubborn to even give them a try

as for Glass, I know exactly what this movie was supposed to be...again your not smarter than everyone else, seeing Night's version of A Superhero Trilogy/Universe is what I was anticipating...

Knowing That Unbreakable was David's Origin Story(The birth of a Hero) and Split was The Beast's Origin story(the birth of a villain or Davids Equal) was why I LOVED them and anticipated Glass so much.

I in no way expected Glass to be anything like a Marvel or DC film...I was hoping and Praying for Classic M Night....

and Unfortunately thats what we got...because while M Night is my favorite director, Theres also knowing denying he's a man capable of Greatness and pure awfulness.

IMO Night has literally made some of greatness films ever and some of my personal favorites....but He's also made truly some of the worst films I've ever seen.

I was hoping and expecting Great M Night...I thought if Night was ever going to completely nail a movie, It could be Glass, A movie he had been waiting to make for 20 years.

unfortunately even for someone like me who truly loves him and his work, Glass is an abomination.

The reviews are awful...audience reactions are already coming in bad, Box office in lower than expected...

Its clear, The overwhelming Majority do not like this movie. Its ok if you do, and I usually do not say this because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, But In this case when a film is so horrifically bad, for some one to defend the movie as strongly as you are...I believe you have a biased going in.

I'm in the overwhelming Majority...so far pretty much everyone who has seen it is disappointed.

so please do not try and act like your smarter than me...

as of right now you have an opinion thats in the minority...you like Glass, thats fine...but as of right now, that makes you look dumb not smart.

and I also must say...I do not envy you...as I said I believe you have a biased toward this movie(IMO thats the only way you could like and defend this movie this strongly)

I'd have no problem believing people who said something like "It was ok, I didnt like the ending but it was ok"

or if someone said "I loved it, I can totally see why some people are going to hate it, but I loved it"

you can not watch this movie and come away believing what you believe.

The ending is so awful/controversial, you either are going to Hate it....Or you are going to like it but immediately realize its going to be controversial and a lot of people are going to hate it.

You are taking the stance Its great, and I must be some dumb marveltard for not like it.

thats just delusional...

again, you are in the minority...Your opinion that its great, Is not a widely shared opinion.

as I said, I dont envy you, This isnt going to be a fun time for you, The hate for this movie is going to be so strong your going to be spending an awful lot of time telling people they are dumb and your smarter than them.

Your Biased and Delusional love for this movie is going to result in a lot of pain.

reply

wouldnt just be easier too admit, "Hey I liked the movie , But I can at least see why so many others hate it"?

again...to recap.

RT and meta score is awful.

IMDB score is plummeting..

early audience reactions are bad---

"Early Post-Trak exits for Glass weren’t through the roof with 3 1/2 stars and a 49% definite recommend. Men and women over 25 were out in numbers at 38% and 30%, respectively"

^from deadline

audience score comes in tonight...certainly going to be bad.

box office is coming in under projections...

Glass now expected to make 52 million after tracking had it at 65 to 70 Million

your more than within you right to believe everyone is dumb Marvel and DC fans and You are smarter than everyone...

but I think its clear, You just have a biased toward this movie and dont want to except its a total misfire...

clearly you are the problem not the movie.

^^^

right thats why the overwhelming majority agree with me....

just accept it....Night totally shit the bed...

It sucks...Bad...I feel Gutted...but accepting it is part of the process

PS next time you pull the "clearly you are the problem not the movie." card...

Make sure you have the facts behind you to back it up...

lol saying that when directed at a universally disliked film that is under performing due to awful reviews and terrible audience reactions is just an EPIC FAIL!

clearly the problem is the movie.....

thats why The overwhelming Majority all dislike it....

judging Epic fails on a scale from 1 to 10....

I judge this a solid 8.5

reply

the majority disliked it because most of them dont know unbreakable. never watched it and dident knew its a sequal. the critics just love to hunt down shaymalan based on some bad movies he made in the past.

its a nitch film for the fans of unbreakable and you are not one of them. the movie called glass for a reason. its about mr glass. hes the protaganist. not david dun. your not smart enough to understand this movie and its lure. clearly you dident had passion for unbreakable

reply

its good
