First, this is unquestionably disappointing. Second, my excitement for it still hasn’t been diminished. And third, oh well.

So it may not be the satisfying conclusion this series deserved according to all these critics, but as with all things I’ll wait and see for myself.

Yeah, I'm hoping I will be one of the ones who falls on the positive side.

This is a pretty good discussion/review:

Still hoping this is a big hit for M. Night with general audiences.

If history has taught us anything, is that critics and audiences don’t see eye-to-eye a lot of the time when it comes to certain movies (just being a bit optimistic here). With that said, despite the lukewarm reviews I can nevertheless see “Glass” being a hit with general audiences myself. Here’s hoping! Gonna keep myself from looking at any more reviews; I want to go in and simply enjoy the ride.

We'll just have to see!

Just judging from the reviews, it sounds like this is a film that a lot of people aren't going to like, but there will be a solid contingent of fans who enjoy it and think it's misunderstood.

Honestly, while I enjoyed Split, I didn't love it like a lot of other people did. There was something about the tone and themes that just felt uncomfortable to me, but I still thought it was a well-made film.

I was hoping that Glass would be more in the vein of Unbreakable than Split, but it seems too me that he really should've waited until he had more money to make the film. When you adjust Unbreakable's budget for inflation, it had like a $100 million budget. Why try to make a sequel to that on only $20 million?

In any case, in a sense I have been looking past Glass for a little while now. That is, while I have been looking forward to it and have been hoping it will be good and a big hit financially, I have been more interested in what he's going to do AFTER it. What will his NEXT film be?

reply

While I am very much curious to know what his next project will be, personally I can’t remember ever feeling as excited for an M. Night Shyamalan film as I am for Glass. I always wanted to see a follow up to Unbreakable, and Split easily became my favorite M. Night Shyamalan film since Unbreakable, so knowing we were getting a sequel to these two films was just the best thing.

The less-than-stellar reviews for Glass may be disappointing but, to be perfectly honest, they haven’t killed my anticipation one bit. Some of the positive ones I’ve seen have actually... dare I say... somehow piqued my interest in the film some more? Hmm. As for what Shyamalan’s next film will be, I think that’s something M. Night can’t answer himself. But whatever it will be, I do look forward to it.

I feel Gutted....

Glass is my most anticipated movie of 2019...

Unbreakable is an all time favorite of mine, Split was my favorite my of 2017...

I was/am looking so forward to Glass...but my anticipation ALL ALONG was quite ODD...simply put, I knew this movie had the potential to turn out Great or Awful...

I LOVE M Night..but the facts are, He has made BOTH truly great movie and Truly Awful movies...

I was really hoping and felt Like Glass May just turn out great...it had many things going for it, Night is on a hot streak, and I felt If Night was ever going to completely NAIL something, It was Glass, a movie he waited 20 years to make.

Unfortunately based on the reviews, My worst fears have been realized....Bad/Awful M NIGHT showed up and possibly ended this Epic trilogy with a shitfest

with that being said...I often LOVE movies that critics hate...I will be there opening night and I'm still hoping I love this movie.

This will be my 1 and only post on this board until after I see this film to avoid spoilers...

I just wanted to comment and let it me known, I truly feel gutted by the early reviews...had this film been good and near the quality of Unbreakable and Split ...it would have been my second favorite Trilogy of all time.

again I hope I watch it and Love it...But also now after reading a few reviews, I cant help but to desperately want to see it to see what went wrong, How could M Night Screw this one up...

It sounds like he tried to go too Deep and controversial, Its also seems like theres not very much action.

if this movie is as bad as the reviews say, without exaggeration this could literally be the most disappointing movie of all time for me.....thats simply how much I love both Unbreakable and Split and How excited I've been for Glass...If Glass truly is horrible, I'm not sure I'll ever be more disappointed by a movie...

but again I still have hope...critics hated The Village....and I love that movie with a passion.

I will see it and just because I am a collector I will automatically add the Blu-Ray to my movie collection when it hits the market.

Maybe just maybe either a director's commentary, and any behind the scenes material not in the theatrical release, will help expand the story and the trilogy.

reply

Ill still see it. Screw reviewers on RT.

Looks like M. Night is back to being rubbish. Probably believed his hype again after Split.

reply

Take the critics with a grain of salt. If you think you might like something go and see it and judge for yourself.

reply

Well even his disasters are memorably bad at least. He doesn't slouch when it comes to shit.

8.6 on imdb

reply

That doesn't mean anything at this stage. All hyped up films like this start off with high ratings on IMDB before their release.

I think the critics' reception is enough to go on to suggest this film is going to be no more than average. Shame as this last film has been set up nicely by its predecessors to have a lot of potential and would have made for a decent trilogy of films.
