Foreign language?

You must have stopped watching right after she was saying it, because if you listen to her story to Everett and Fay for just a few more minutes, you learn more about it. She says it wasn't English, Spanish, or the local Native American language. It's clearly a mysterious alien tongue. And it figures into the story again after that. It puts some people into a weird trance. But I don't want to spoil the rest too much.
