So who did Akeem sow his wild oats with?

I'm going for the female Arsenio Hall character, he knocked her up.

After thinking for a long time I’ve managed to theorise 3 possible explanations on who Akeem sowed his royal oats with. 2 is a potential spoiler:
1. In the original early in the film Akeem and his father discuss having sex with their bathers. One of Akeem’s bathers got pregnant and the King sent her to America.
2. The plot twist will reveal that Semmi is the father as he was sowing his royal oats pretending to be the prince.
3. Akeem slept with one of the girls they met in the nightclubs.

Semmi was complaining that he hadn't had sex. The closest he got was getting thrown out between first and second base with Patrice.

My guess is that Akeem did not father any child (plot to enfold), but your first guess is not unlikely.

reply

Yeah there’s still a possibility that Akeem didn’t father anyone. Towards the end of the original on the train Lisa says “Your father said you came to America to sow you royal oats” which Akeem replies “oh no I came to Queens to find you.”

So I doubt Akeem would lie to Lisa at that point that he sowed his royal oats to anyone in America which is why this lost son plot seems forced. They’ve got a lot explaining to do lol

Honestly, it would be disappointing if Akeem fathered a child while in Queens. I like your idea that Semi is the father, but then, Akeem would know that he couldn't be the father if he behaved himself. Not sure how they could write that.

Just for this question, I wanna tear you apart. And your friend, too.

pfffffffffffffffffffffffttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!

Leslie Jones has confirmed that she's playing the mother of the long lost son. I'm guessing Akeem met Leslie Jones' character in one of the clubs in the original.

reply

God I hope it's not her I'd lose all respect for Akeem if he had sex with that ugly thing.

reply

Well Akeem really did have sex with her. What's interesting is that on the IMDB page of the 'Coming to America' sequel there's an actor listed as the "1988 Club Patron." I'm guessing they'll be a flashback scene on how the one night stand happened. Maybe Akeem was drunk lol.

Here's a link of a video of Leslie Jones confirming she's the mother of the long lost son

I LOVE Leslie Jones! I cannot wait to see this!!

reply

Aaaand here goes my interest for the movie...
fucking Leslie "Professional Victim" Jones, really!? God dammit.

reply

Dunno. But it's a strong premise to justify a sequel story.

reply

i'm thinking leslie jones is hustling him and he doesn't really have a child with her

reply

What happened to Lisa? Wasn't the premise that he would live happily ever after and she would be the Queen. Didn't they have any kids???

reply

McDowell's was left in her name when her father passed.

She bore the brunt of lawsuits, lost everything and is currently in prison

reply

Just saw a preview. He only had daughters so the son would be the rightful heir. Bet that went over well with the way things are today.

Spoiler below:

Akeem was drugged and raped by the Leslie Jones character when he was in New York. Sheesh..

reply

Major plot hole. In the original there's a scene in the restaurant with Akeem and Semmi cleaning the windows and Semmi says he hadn't had sex since he's come to America. Yet in the sequel a flashback is shown with Semmi having sex with one of the girls from the nightclub lol. Lazy writing. They left the bar and went to the black awareness rally where he fell in love at first sight with Lisa. There was no going back to anyone’s place and definitely upset that he was r*ped. Not right.

reply

It works to drug a female and rape her but it isn't quite as easy with a male. While a male can get an erection while sleeping it is because of what they are dreaming of, but if you are drugged to the point of passing out you aren't going to dream of anything. So I'm not buying this theory.
