I loved Rocket's animal friends

Those three creatures that were in adjacent cages next to Rocket, I mean. It was so poignant when they gave themselves their names, were so optimistic for the future and when they said it was good to have friends, it was heartwarming. Which makes it so tragic what happened to them because of the villain, and why Rocket has never spoken about it. What a trauma!

They were gross to look at though.

They couldn't help what had been done to them, but their personalities were friendly and benign.

I am stunned that Disney did not want cute animals for merch or child targetted cartoons later on.

Disney's always been somewhat hands-off with the more successful MCU directors.

With Gunn, in particular, they've gotten burned by stepping in too hastily

In the end, it's all about the dollars, and as long as Gunn kept printing money for them, they'll let him make ugly animals.

Gunn himself has stated how surprised he was by the latitude they gave him on this film in particular.

Hell, they'd probably license grossly realistic Todd McFarlane level action figures of Tooths and Floor for collectors to unbox on YouTube

They already have their Baby Groot merch.
