So, is it good or not ?

I don't give a shit about box office. I wanna know if it's worth seeing in theaters. Is it a good movie ?

reply

I would say that it's worth seeing at the theater and I'm a guy that thinks James Gunn did a pretty sh!tty job of adapting Marvel's cosmic characters to the big screen. It's a lot better than Volume 2 IMO, and I've never wanted a comic movie bad guy to get his comeuppance as much as I did with the bad guy in Volume 3.

VOLUME 2 IS MY FAVORITE OF THE FIRST TWO FLICKS...THE YONDU STUFF WAS MAGICAL...REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO VOLUME 3.

reply

Vol2 is my favorite as well. So many great action scenes and humor.

reply

THE FATHER STUFF REALLY WORKED FOR ME AS WELL.

reply

Thats basically the reply I needed. I think both 1 and 2 were good, so if someone considers it better than 2, maybe I will give it a watch

reply

If you liked the first two, then you’ll like this.

reply

It was an OK film not as good as Avatar: The Way of Water but still OK.

I give it a 7/10
the other 2 an 8/10
the blue people a 9.

reply

I feel happy for you you liked the way of the water; for me (a huge fan of Cameron) it was a visual marvel and a letdown storywise(for which I blame Disney, Cameron .... maybe). I would have enhoyed it more if I hadn't so high expectations probably. The fact that you rank Avatar 2 higher than this is not portraying a good image for G3.

reply

I think so. I enjoyed the first one immensely, but had mixed feelings about the second film. This one is an excellent film. It isn't the lean, fun film that the first Guardians film is, but thematically its deeper, and there are some powerful moments. One sequence showing a battle in a corridor is among the most stunning battle sequences of any comic book film to date.

reply

Well yeah if you aren't wanting to bring box office into the equation...it's a stellar film.

reply

In terms of a film that's emotionally resonated with me it's one of the best I've ever seen. I know that sounds hyperbolic but I haven't stopped thinking about this film since I saw it. It's very entertaining but has some painful scenes that brought me to tears but also in the end warmed my heart.

It's a great film and essential viewing in the cinema, it actually looks fantastic unlike some of the recent Marvel films (Such as Ant-Man 3.) Comic book superhero films rarely even attempt this level of emotional depth yet this film achieves it and then some. It's got flaws as all films do but this is probably the best conclusion to a trilogy that I've seen.

Just my opinion though but this will easily go down as one of the best films of the year for me.

reply

Nevermind, I saw it. I think it's better than both 1 and 2. Much, much better than I expected.

reply

It is really good. It's better than Vol. 1 in that it goes a lot deeper story-wise than the original, but as a standalone, concise, film, Vol. 1 is near-perfect. I'd say that Vol. 1 is the best single film of the three, and Vol. 3 is the perfect culmination to the trilogy. Or, to put it another way, I can put Vol. 1 on and watch and enjoy it pretty much any time, but I'll need to be in the mood for Vol.3 before I opt to rewatch that one.

reply

What you said makes perfect sense. Now that I think about it, I changed my mind;
1 is near-perfect, and you can dive into it with zero knowledge about the characters.
3, like any sequel, requires previous knowledge about the universe in order to fully digest it.

reply

I think yes, if you are 12.
Same applies to part 1 and 2, by the way, so if you liked those, this is more of the same.

I think most fun Marvel live action film since the last Spiderman film for me. I think it's better then the second film, which was still good. But the 1st and 3rd are in the top tier of Marvel films. I actually think the third film has best villain from the series, Rocket's backstory the most heartbreaking Marvel has gotten and my favourite soundtrack from the three films. I do worry for GOTG with James Gunn not on board filming and writing it though. I was hoping this was the end for the original cast (you know Marvel will recast and do more GOTG films) but some of the acting talent this is their biggest gig so I expect them to return.

reply

Yes. Not as good as first two but still worth seeing.
