I watched Hillbilly Elegy and now see that reviews are pretty bad. I personally found it adequately entertaining and not awful. Not great, but certainly not disastrous. I am trying to understand why all the hate. Specifically, is it the acting, the story, directing, sound, what?? The negative reviews I've read are general in nature and don't discuss specifics. Help!

I didn't think it was as bad as people say either. I'm at a loss too

Have you read the reviews? The amazing thing about reviews is that they tell you flaws of the movie..

reply

Is that supposed to be clever? As I said, the reviews and opinions I've seen are general. And no, they don't "tell me what flaws there are". Reviews are opinions, you amateur.Instead of leaving a shitty comment, why not post a link to a specific review ?

Yes they do man.

Next time you post a reply, try and do it without quoting the previous post. I know you think it's clever but it's not. It's redundant and unnecessary and reminds me of an 11 year-old trying to be witty in a YouTube comment.

Allison44: Sounds just like someone who is terrified of her words coming back to bite them in the ass. The reason quoting of previous posts has become the norm is because of the lying hypocrites who delete their posts once their asses have been handed to them in the multiple responses that are generated.

I watched it last night and thought it was pretty good. The critical response is pretty ridiculous as I found it to be an above-average family drama. I'd probably give it a 7.5.

The author of the book was on Fox News the other day. He said that he thought the movie was a pretty good adaptation and that he believes the critics are going hard at it because of his conservative political beliefs, which we all know Hollywood types can't tolerate.

reply

I didn't know that about him. That makes complete sense then.

reply

F critics. Make up your own mind.
