Just Finished This Series....Kinda Blown away...

Just finished this series...and I must say for me, It was one of the best series or single seasons I've ever seen....

The SOLE reason why I even started this series is because I'm a fan of the director and his past horror movies and Thought This show might be a good, scary Supernatural show....

and Stunningly to me This show had very little actually Horror/Scares and Instead I became completely Invested in The story,characters and Themes....

The cast was absolutely Phenomenal, I feel So many Actors were Perfectly cast, The Actors that played The Children were Astonishing and The Adults were damn near as good(especial Adult Nell)

I loved how starting with Episode 3, each Episode kinda became centered on 1 main character, telling their story...

and there was some good scares that directed and set up perfectly by the director....

but Overall, at least for me, I'm just blown away by The story....I'm not hard to please, I enjoy pretty much any Ghost movie regardless how bad the story is as long as theres some good scares, I watch B list Horror movies all the time...

The last thing I was expecting going in to this movie was to be completely entrenched by The story and characters...If fact If I read this post/review I'm writing right now Praising The Story and characters over the scares it would probably make me want to watch it less...

But Man, What A series, What A Story, What Perfect Casting and What A Wonderful job by the director telling this story....

I'm rating it a 9.5/10....

Also I know everyone has different opinions, feel free to share even if you didnt like it as much as I did....

One complaint I've seen is some specifically say "Its boring and has very little actually scares and ghosts" and I can completely see that POV or understand why someone would feel that way, If you didnt get hooked on the story or invested in the characters, If you were only wanting scares, I definitely could see how someone would be disappointed, In fact I'm surprised I dont have that opinion, thats usually what I'm looking for, But The series Just HOOKED Me with The Story and characters

I liked that there were a lot of subtle details in the early episodes that become more relevant in the later episodes.

agreed, the characters/actors were great. show was creepy enough to satisfy the horror element, but that jump scare in episode nine made up for the lack of scares. but wasn't that thrilled how it all wrapped up.

I thought it was interesting how the world was described as a hungry, chewing monster who is going to devour your children and then toward the end of the story the house was described the same way. To me there seems to be a general theme of how does one protect one's children? With this family and the Hill family, it was more dangerous "inside the walls" than out. Wm. Hill discovered the same thing as he tried to seal himself in his bricked walls.

I agree! I thought it was an excellent series and I really enjoyed it. The acting was fantastic and it held my interest throughout.

I love how the characters are fully fleshed-out, real people. It was also beautiful to look at in parts, the house set was great, the confusion among the characters, ghosts and scenes....it was great.

This show was definitely one of the (if not the best) exercises in dramatic horror in television for decades. I pretty much agree with everything you said. It is continuing as an anthology series to a second season and I am very interested to see where it goes.

Was great man, a little cheesy sometimes, but enjoyed watching it, finished whole season in two days :)
