Everyone's annoying and overthinking this movie's simple messed up message

The annoying message of this movie:

"Hey poor people! You stink (literally)! You are cockroaches...stay in your lane of poverty. dont encroach on our shit. youre never going to reach our level so dont even try with your dumb cons. Actually you cant even think of your own cons cause your dumb and stupid (they didnt even come up with the con idea themselves, the rich friend gave them the idea), fuck off to the basement, you delusional losers, u can never reach our status cause you're lazy and selfish (you cant even fold boxes), keep dreaming delusional thoughts of being as rich as us!!"

OR quite simply

"poor ppl are dangerous and pathological they will encroach into your lives and in the end kill you for your stuff. They suck and they smell. Poor ppl are deranged so dont invite them to your rich ppl parties"

AND

"but rich ppl are slightly snobby and cant do housework but they pay their workers well and in general theyre nice"

That is quite literally the prima facie message.

How the hell are ppl not annoyed with this elitist movie?

And its even more annoying that the director is an extremely wealthy guy who had major financial backing of a mega Korean corporation to make this movie.

Not to mention, the pedo teacher exploiting that highschool girl. Did no body notice this?

People have lost their collective minds over this movie.

reply

I agree with you, and I find this really disturbing because it's a pattern I see with pop entertainment that has a morally reprehensible message. Like Juno, an insanely popular movie that paints a rosy and socially irresponsible picture of teenage pregnancy.

I don't think people have lost their minds. I also don't think they're as dense or stupid as they seem. I think that a surprising amount of people are closet psychopaths (even to themselves), and they LOVE movies like this because they echo and validate their fucked-up values. These values are conveyed under a veneer of plausible deniability, so they can openly talk about it without fear of social repercussions from those who have more of a moral compass. Most people don't care to deconstruct movies and art.

I think you can also see this in lots of YouTube vids with millions of views, they have these weird disturbing undertones of child and infant abuse. And when I say many people are psychopaths, I don't necessarily mean in the way the DSM would define it, as a rare and special pathology. I think that this is actually an extremely ugly, basic-bitch aspect of humanity that finds its expression in polite society by watching and promoting trash like this.

I happen to think this is also why many from privileged backgrounds are drawn to this "anti-racism/sexism/genderism" media circus. Because they recognize this elitist, basic-bitch will-to-sadism in themselves, and virtue-signaling about being against it makes them feel better about themselves... also because it's a way to fit in.

tl;dr Parasite is by and for infantile twats, which are most people

reply

Its bizarre cause the people who dislike this movie say they dislike it cause it's "woke" and typical virtue signalling or whatever...

But this movie blatantly makes poor ppl look shitty on purpose and calls the movie "parasite", which is the typical "get a job and stop leaching off us you parasite poor people!" message.

am i missing something? cause it feels like this movie is mocking poor people and im the only one noticing it cause everybody else is saying its good cause its "woke" or its bad cause its "woke" and im the only one saying its not "woke"... its elitist and annoying.

reply

Well , from what i can see it fails the "Bad guy is always the white guy" test , so it cant be woke

reply

Some guy in this forum site said this movie is bad because it's marxist. What in the world? This movie's pretty straightforward. Poor people are poor cause they are shitty people...how is that even marxist?

The poor are portrayed as the parasites and everyone's delusional, thinking the director is making some social commentary that both the elite rich and poor people are parasitic...and they all think he has some deep and meaningful profound social commentary about inequality...wtf? maybe cause the director's not white? I'm confused.

Everyone's gone mental.

This movie is literally saying that poor ppl have innately worse personal qualities and therefore deserve their poverty. It's not even subtle.

Western viewers are projecting their own sjw wokeness onto a foreign film's elitist message. Its quite obvious the director knows zero about real poverty due to the way in which he disgustingly caricatures poor people in this movie.

The rich people in this movie were pretty one dimensional but at least they werent portrayed as murderous con artists.

Also it's kind of interesting to note that this movie didnt do well in Korea..maybe its cause Koreans can intuitively sense the movie's annoying message as they understand the original language?

reply

the messed up message of the movie was that rich people are annoying, so it's okay to con them. but watch out, because someone might be conning you too.

"the messed up message of the movie was that rich people are annoying, so it's okay to con them."

The movie definitely didnt portray the idea that it was "ok to con" rich ppl. look what happened to all of the poor characters in the movie.

reply

Thats not the message at all, you shouldnt watch or comment on movies. The poor people were the protagonists and the rich snobs were presented as antagonists, the movie has a communist message in a way where it criticizes the rich and class inequality. I dont agree with the message, it is shallow and even the plot of the movie shows the poor family to be the villains as they scammed, resorted to murder, and some other crimes while ricch family did everything legal. However the tone of the movie and intent was to make the rich unlikeable and the poor likeable victims of the capitalist society. That is why i dislike this movie. It is misguided same way when John Lennon sang Imagine which is a communist song while living in a capitalist society and having all the benefits of being rich, this direcctor ccan make this kind of movie living in south korea.

reply

Not necessarily...I just explained why. The rich people were not antagonists because what they did wasn't nearly as bad as what the poor people did.
Look at the actions of the characters and don't force your own ideological inclinations onto the story.

"Thats not the message at all, you shouldnt watch or comment on movies."
ur explanation of this movie makes it seem like you shouldnt watch or comment on movies either....
people literally u have to force their own westernized notions of communist vs capitalist politics onto a movie (as demonstrated in your post) when the movie actually has absolutely zero message or the message was extremely stupid (and all over the place)...or was extremely annoying

reply

Just look up what the director, who also wrote the film, has said it's about. It's a critique of the class system in Korea, he said. In other words, it's not even about what you claimed it was---it's not bashing poor people or calling them "parasites". You completely misread the film, period. It's not "stupid" just because you didn't understand it---plus it's from Korea, so if you don't know anything about the Korean culture it comes from, of course you don't understand it. Tired of people calling some movies "stupid" simply because they can't understand them. Nobody expects anybody to understand every movie they come across.

"Not to mention, the pedo teacher exploiting that highschool girl. Did no body notice this?"

It will shock you but most people don't share your hysterical American ideas about "pedo" and "exploiting".
