Is there a version that is dubbed in English?

I just dont feel like reading subtitles the whole time and I keep hearing its one of the best of 2019.

reply

Not that I know of. I don't like subtitles either but with this movie I had no problems reading them. It just works. Give it a chance because if you don't you're missing out on one of the very best movies of last year.

reply

Ok I will. I just have to be in the right mental place to sit there and read without being distracted by my adhd. lol. Thanks Robocat.

reply

Same here. I have the attention span of a gnat but I was so drawn into this movie I really didn't notice that I was reading subtitles. I'm sure you will enjoy this movie.

reply

Right on. I appreciate your input.

reply

Do you often watch live action movies with a dub? I can do it with anime and such, but it's just way too distracting when it's live action

reply

I have in the past but I usually have to be really motivated. For instance Run Lola Run, and I loved it!

reply

So I watched it and I didnt hate it but I didnt think it lived up to the hype. I thought it was great until it went to the dark side. I think it would have worked better as a straight comedy or a drama. I dont really think the bloodshed served the story very much other than to setup the very end which I felt was rather ridiculous. Anyway I am glad I saw it and I was enthralled and entertained until the final act but it wouldn't be on my best of 2019 list.

reply

That's EXACTLY how I felt SteveG. Cute, funny, different, refreshing even but it devolved in the third act. Too far-fetched and unbelievable. Kind of like "Us".

Dubbing in another language takes away the performance of the actors in a strong way. Don’t be lazy

reply

Well... while that is correct, watching movies in foreign language you seldom hear would also takes away the performance tremendously because we don't catch the subtleties and nuances.

reply

Totally correct.
Dubbing is the best way to enjoy a MOVIE in a foreign language by a mile.

Only morons still think that reading a translation instead of watching the picture proves your supposed intelligence.

reply

>I just dont feel like reading subtitles

Don't bother then.

>I keep hearing its one of the best of 2019.

Im sure you will hate it.

reply

I didnt hate it I just didnt like it. Specifically the third act.

reply

No, Hollywood and USA in general are against anything they didnt make and foreigners in general. Why would they ever help this one to be more viewed?

reply

I would have agreed with you, but considering that it just won Best Picture at the Oscars, I sense a change in the wind.

reply

Oscars are as important as prom king n queen for getting into Harvard.
Production n distribution is what matters.
Those guys are interested in their own movies n want to control n boycott any competition. Forbidding dubbing is the best way to boycott a film, short of banning foreign movies alltogether like China does.

reply

Agreed I don't like subs either so I'll give this a miss.

reply

Don't do it. It's worth the effort to get used to subtitles because it opens up the whole world of filmmaking to you. And trust me, there are some absolute masterpieces in foreign languages out there.

reply

I know that. I have watched many subbed films. The best ever was Run Lola Run and yes I am glad to have experienced that, but Parasite is overrated.

reply

Let's be honest though; you can watch Run Lola Run in any language and still be ENTIRELY tuned in. It's special in that way. (I'd still want the audio for the absolute belter of a soundtrack!)

There are many other movies where the experience has been ruined by poor dubbing. Honestly there isn't a single dub that I can consider better than the original.

reply

I'll never understand how subtitles are an issue for anyone.
