For those who have seen it - how is the audio ?

I read viewers hardly hear the dialog.
Any input would be much appreciated.

Hard to hear for me. I went to a drive in and I normally have no trouble hearing at the drive in seeing as the sound comes from my car speakers and I have a 2019 car so there is nothing wrong with my stereo system.

Between the audio issues and the muffled face masks, it certainly requires subtitles, or else you will miss a good portion of the dialogue.

reply

Most people who watched pirated versions of the film seem to complain about the audio.

Watched 3 times in theater. Horrible dialog mix

reply

If you have problem with audio, can't hear dialog, you are deaf as dead.

reply

I'm a recording engineer. Do mixes in 5.1. I own two pairs of professional studio monitors at home. And I watch a lot of movies. I'm not deaf. This film has a terrible dialog mix. One of the worst Ive heard.

I'm wonder, a lot of Interstellar fans said: "If you don't understand Interstellar, you are dumb."

Why no Tenet fans say this:"If you can't hear dialog in Tenet, you are deaf."

What is the difference? (By the way, I haven't watch Tenet yet, wait to stream.)

Yes, I felt the same way...could barely hear the audio, the speaking bits at least. The background noise you could hear well but I could hardly ever pick up what the actors were saying. Want to see it again with subtitles on, would probably make it better (can't hurt!).

reply

Isn't it stupid to need subtitles? They should just mix the dam audio like all movies are done. It s not new. Make it understandable

reply

From all the other responses , this sounds horrific.

How can you make a film where you cant hear the dialogue?
Its like building a house with no doors.
Worse , with no foundation.
A car with no engine, or an engine , nut no sterring.
what i mean is its one of the must-have , non negotiable elements surely?

its just pointless surely?

I couldn't tell you my ears are still bleeding from Dunkirk.

reply

No kidding, Dunkirk was terrible.

I watched the UHD last night consciously knowing about this complaint ever since it premiere on theaters. First of all, even the home release is LOUD compared to other blurays. But most of the loud action scenes don't have any dialog. So when characters talk, you can understand them.

Mind you, I watch movies with spanish subtitles :P
