I feel like that's Cloverfield's biggest problem as a franchise. Instead of planning ahead and writing scripts about that, it feels more like they pick scripts that aren't fully developed and then tweak them to fit into their universe.

Yeah, I mean it did seem already just as much of a Cloverfield movie as the one who came out in Feb, maybe even more so. The monsters themselves really gave me vibes from the one's we saw in 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Agreed, I actually posted this link, then went and saw the movie this afternoon. Really liked it, and it could've fit as a Cloverfield movie, much better than the third one was.

I hope it was to foreshadow that the rocket actually ended up taking him away, by a nice mouth tackle from an alien.
