Lewis Pullman gave an Oscar worthy performance ((Spoiler))

I am surprised no one talks more about his performance, it was so heartbreaking. I love how his character was seen as the weakest and at the end became the one who saved everyone! His death scene literally made me cry (Kudo to Jeff Bridges on that scene as well). So impressed by that film!

reply

Yeah. He was really good.

reply

His death scene was touching but him shooting his way to the resolution of the film was about as germane as the jukebox turning into a transformer and killing folks.

This movie was "random cool things pasted together"

reply

"random cool things pasted together" I like that , good description And I enjoyed those random things too .
I liked too that the character died lying exactly on the state line , neither in one nor the other

reply

To what end? What did the state lines have to do with anything at all? I was hoping that there would be something to that. Like certain emotions only happening on one side and the violence on the other. I saw no details put to this "cool thing." Just another snazzy set piece devoid of meaning of pertinence. Much like everything in this film.

sema4dogz was just giving his opinion. No need to get nasty

reply

Calm down. I wasn't being nasty toward sema4.
Slamming the movie you love is not the same thing as slamming you. Try reading what I said in a calm, street cafe voice. Then remember that I don't fault you for liking this film. Plenty to like. Too flawed IMO.

The state line was thrown in as a plot gimmick, but in a "movie world", you'd end up with two law enforcement agencies on scene trying to claim jurisdiction for the crime. In the real world, they'd each be trying to shove jurisdiction onto the other.

reply

Sure. The whole movie was a jumble of plot gimmicks. A bag of ingredients, uncooked.

reply

Yes! There were some other fantastic performances, but his was on top. He owned that character.
