That one scene came totally out of left field. I thought this was going to be a movie about a young man finding himself/and becoming inspired to work hard, go to school, and get out of the ghetto.

Let's just say i was completely caught off guard when events went in a whole other direction.

Me too. I came here to see if anyone else was as disappointed in this film as I was. It just didn't make sense. How he could have not known what the outcome was going to be when he did that?
