Sophie Turner leading a movie

She’s not ready, nor a good enough actress to pull this off. I don’t think this film should have even been made

reply

She needs to prove herself someday. That someday is closely approaching. :>

I understand the concern, but I think her acting looks strong in the new trailer. Sure, she could be unremarkable in the final movie but I’ll reserve judgment until I see it.

reply

You must be the acting expert everyone's talking about. No you fukcing are not, you are just a misogynist

reply

Whoa, whoa, whoa....saying she's not good enough to lead a movie does not make him a misogynist. I agree with him but I can also name a dozen MEN who get leads in movies that I personally feel were not ready for the limelight. If someone could explain the appeal of Tom Hardy to me, as an example.

reply

Tom Hardy is a good actor. Better example would be like, say, Sam Worthington as the lead role in Avatar. Or Joel Kinnaman in the Robocop reboot. They are more or less on par with Sophie Turner.

reply

Also excellent picks.

You're obviously just a misandrist who probably thinks masculinity is intrinsically "toxic." Let me guess, you don't know what 'misandrist' means, lol.

reply

On her worst day Sophie blows Famke Whats-her-face out of the water, as she has already proven in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

reply

They were both good in the part!

reply

Thanks, Jacob; I think I went a little overboard with that post.

reply

They said that about Gal Gadot too before Wonder Woman.

reply

That didnt stop Jennifer Lawrence!

From what?

Very amusing to see this thread here. Finally saw Apocalypse on the telly last night and was shocked to see this terrible - and dare I say not particularly attractive - actress in this role and with so much screen time. Genuinely could not work it out but then the missus told me she was in Game of Thrones, which I haven't seen, which kind of explained it I guess (a bit like you still see that Daniel Radcliffe getting parts even though he's terrible I suppose).

But it wasn't just her - that guy who played Cyclops was also a very ugly looking dude. Who wants to watch that pair together on screen? I mean when you compare them with the James Bond mancrusher and that Tom Cruise wannabe... Just awful!

Or is it a deliberate tactic now being employed by Hollywood? i.e. cast ugly actors / actresses because they have more resemblance to the teenage kids this series seems to be selling to and it's nice for average looking kids to have particularly average looking heroes to look up to?

You can dare to say it, but anyone with eyes can see the obvious (scroll down to see all the pics): https://expo.cleveland.com/life-and-culture/g66l-2019/02/cf5afa0ec03182/sophie-turner-fun-facts-15-things-to-know-about-the-game-of-thrones-and-dark-phoenix-star.html

That girl is fucking BRILLIANT on "Game of Thrones"!

But she's been coached through that role since she was, what, twelve years old? She hasn't impressed me in anything else yet, she was lifeless in "Apocalypse", and I hope they're trusting her with a larger role because they're impressed with how much she's improved and how natural her American accent seems now. And not because they think anything based on a comic book will sell these days.

reply

She seems fine in the trailers.
