With the way the movies were pushed back more than a year (in New Mutant’s case anyway), the reported disastrous test screenings, all the extensive reshoots, and the Fox & Disney acquisition, it was so easy to believe this baseless rumor that was spread around.
Luckily, plans to release the movies haven’t changed. I mean what a waste of time, effort and, above all for the studio, a loss of money this would have been had they scrapped them. Now, I’m THRILLED that the X-Men are officially and finally going where they belong (sorry not sorry those who only approve of Marvel films as long as they’re not associated with the MCU... ha!), but it would’ve sucked so much not to see this final big X-Men film that’ll conclude the Fox era. Besides, the great “new original” cast deserve their one last shining moment as X-Men (unless...).
In any case, I hope Dark Phoenix is amazing along with New Mutants. Incidentally, as excited as I was to see these two movies this year, I already got my sweet Marvel fix for 2018 (with “Venom” slowly approaching!) so I can wait a little longer for the X-Men.

The reported test screening was by an anonymous reddit user who lied about who he was and his spoilers were partly fake according to a more reliable source.

I did hear about that one in regards to Dark Phoenix. But I’ve heard a bunch conflicting reports that it’s rather hard to trust most information put out there. As a result, it’s no suprise many of these rumors pick up steam and are then seen as reliable when they’re anything but.
Although seeing how supposedly 50% of New Mutants was reshot (word is they even added a whole new character), I wonder if that test screening earlier this year really went as well as it was first reported. No matter, I suppose any changes they made should be an improvement.
