They always say "1990 something" to keep it ambiguous, but they just went to see "The Phantom Menace", which means it's close to the end of the school year, 1999. That just destroyed the whole premise of a 90s show.

(Lainey, Erica, Johnny Atkins, and Evy - nice that they remembered to include her in there, though she kinda disappeared after Erica stole Geoff from her - all attended their high school reunion, probably their 10th) In which case, Lainey and the other teachers whom we know from the Goldbergs (Coach Mellor, Glascott, etc), don't look 10 years older on the spin-off.

This should have been pretty obvious in the second episode "Lainey's All That". The movie they referenced came out in 1999 ("She's All That").

So to clarify, again for your benefit only; if you are happy with The Goldbergs definition of "the 80's" where they jump all over the decade and reference different events and crazes without applying a linear timeline, then you have to apply that same benefit of the doubt to Schooled, where they do exactly the same thing. If you can't my friend, you have what is commonly referred to as a DOUBLE STANDARD.

Yeah, they jump around quite a bit. Another error was in the season opener of season 2 in which she says her and Barry saw Dangerous Minds, which was summer 1995, during the summer but then during the school year the kids are going to see American Pie, which not only came out in 1999, but also in the middle of the summer of that year and no where near school months.

Another episode where they watch the 1981 wedding of Charles And Diana. In one episode they go to the cinema to see Return Of The Jedi. (1983). Also another one when they went to see Willow. (1988) Another one when they see E.T. in the cinema. (1982)
The rules are that because it's set in "1980-something", they don't have to worry about what year something happened in when they reference it.
Schooled follows the same rules, but in the 1990s.
