It starts of well, slow build-up, great atmosphere and all that... and then we're introduced to villains who appear threatening at first, but then we see them in action. And this makes the movie much less scary, especially towards the end. You know how often slasher killers are unstoppable even when faced with an armed victim? Well in this movie one of the killers is armed with a handgun and yet incapable of killing a guy slowly walking towards him with a baseball bat. Another one, armed with a pitchfork, gets severely injured by a girl wielding a key and then is killed by his own trap. The scary witch gets pulled down a shaft alien-style by one of the protagonists as if she was the victim.

Honestly, the villains in this movie were as scary as monsters in Doom. Yeah, they looked scary, but seeing protagonists kick their asses like that it was hard to take them seriously.

And then the ending, trust me, it seriously made me LOL.
So, you know the cliche slasher ending where the protagonist escapes, thinks he/she's safe and then the movie ends by showing us that it's not over yet? Well, in this one the killer breakes into her house but tough luck for him because our heroine watched Home Alone as a kid so he gets greeted with a series of childish booby traps and gets his head blown with a shotgun a few seconds after kicking the front door open. The end.

The traps were the same ones they had used on her. I agree, the movie sucked though

The ending, where the girl had those traps, was quite improbable, I agree.

But I think the incompetent villains were fine. They were sociopaths, but they weren’t ex-military or ex-policeman. It’s not as if they were trained to hunt and kill. Hence, the protagonists got their openings.

In 2020, people get bored by unstoppable villains who always dominate and always come out on top, like Jason and Freddy. It’s better to give the heroes a fighting chance.

The villains also set up some childish booby traps. The film sort of shows us that everyone is the same in the end.

The scene where Harper goes into the "Escape Room" and it looks like her room setup at home. How did the people who set up the room (the villains) know about her home life?

Also, How did the guy at the end know where Harper Lived?

The villains made them sign releases that contained their personal info before entering. The better question is, how did the villain get Harper's mother's address? Harper no longer lived with those roommates.

If you see the scene near the end where the last killer looks at the release form, there's two addresses written down, each on its own separate line. The form likely also asked for the address of an emergency and/or family contact, which would explain her mother's address being on there.

I liked that the villains were not these infallible, unkillable machines, they made mistakes. And that ending was unique and awesome. One of the very few quality horror movies I've seen in the past decade.

This film was overall enjoyable but the head guy going to her Mothers house at the end? (incidently, was the mother killed by the father? The mother daughter hug made me think that she was dreaming/wishing for contact with her mother that she hadn't felt since her (mother) death. The Dusty spot where the shotgun 'used to be' emphasised that.

Back on topic. Yeah, the final clown kinda ran like a moron into all the traps he's been using for years.
