Maybe Ridgeman should've just bitten the bullet and blown Henry away when he got the drop on him and then deleted the footage/destroyed the phone (its not like he was 'clean' anymore anyway after killing the woman hostage and indirectly getting his buddy Vince Vaughn killed, plus Henry was part of the robbery and helped get a bunch of innocents slaughtered so must've been a POS anyway in Ridgemans mind despite him probably realising Henry was just hired help/didn't bank on Vogelmann killing everyone )

there's no way in hell ANYONE would want someone to have footage of them doing something that would destroy their lives .. maybe Ridgeman should've made it part of the negotiation in the first place.. like 'look we split the gold but you have to delete that footage..otherwise no deal.' I guess Henry wanted it in case Ridgeman decided to track him down later and pin the robbery on him? (but then Ridgeman wouldn't do that as hed implement himself in it all.. and theres no way he'd want anything to do with it after)

Ultimately Ridgemans good nature prevented him from making the decision that had the most favourable percentage in his favour (blowing Henry away) and figured if he just got him to delete the footage everything would work out fine (but didn't factor Henry might have a gun)

think id have 'dug' the ending more had Ridgeman lived instead and then he'd had sent Henrys mom and bro a few bars of gold. ok he made a few bad calls but was ultimately a decent guy and deserved it more after 30+ years putting away trash but getting nowhere/was suffering as was a non PC guy trying to get by in a silly PC world.. but then that would've gone against the tragic (anti) hero takes on the system/society and loses ending (and did Ridgemans wife and kid even know he was dead at the end? I dont think so as the daughter says the package is from dad)

But as you pointed out, there's nothing stopping Ridgeman from killing Henry once the footage is deleted.

Not at all. Ridgeman could have tracked down Henry, killed him, and then said that while he was out he was "attacked" and "feared for his life" by this random thug, and upon further investigation this random thug had gold bars conveniently in the back of his car (which Ridgeman could have put there to make it look like Henry was trying to flee with the gold).

There's an innumerable selection of variables that could have been employed to frame Henry after the fact and make Ridgeman look like he just incidentally came upon Henry and stopped the caper who was part of the robbery.

But there was one problem: killing Henry wouldn't erase the video.

That's why he pulled the gun on Henry in the car and asked him for the code to access the video, because if Henry had placed it on the cloud or sent it to anyone else as backup, Ridgeman is still screwed.

As The Fappening revealed, anything you put on your phone is not safe, and there's really no way to know for sure that it's gone.

Yeah, if you watch the scene closely he asks Henry what the security code is for his phone so he can manually delete the video himself.
