His friendship with the girl

is boring and annoying. They should have left it alone when she took off for Pittsburgh or wherever. I can't even be bothered to remember her name.

reply

Not a fan of their relationship either but I see where they are going with this, either she falls in love with him or he with her and ruin the relationship.

reply

Maybe the writers were trying to do a Grey's Anatomy type friendship/ turns into love interest but I can't see how the story is helped along if she is his room mate and she's bringing home dates and now that he found someone else who he is attracted to...Lea doesn't serve a purpose since he is surrounded by females in the hospital who are his friends/co-workers. Tht character will undoubtedly be written off.

reply

Every character except Sean and his mentor (the doc with the brain tumor) is boring and annoying but this girl roommate is the worst. The actress talks through her nose the whole time.

reply

It is kind of cruel in a way as he isn't able to understand what is happening or the games she is playing. All her attention to him is a sign of interest.

reply

I can see why you would say that ... the girl is a pain in the neck and very annoying ... however, as a young boy "equivalent" this is his first connection to a girl, and men tend to get very attached romantically ... and an autistic guy is no different except for his inability to process what is going on even as good as a regular guy in his first relationship.

I think it is an important aspect of the show, so that is why I must disagree with you, though I have felt the same way.

Now, from the other perspective, this girl who knows it all in a street smart kind of way has probably never really connected with a man/boy before and so in a way this is new for her. It is a chance to see behind the barriers and social norms, so she must be at least somewhat intrigued by this guy.

While they can really benefit from each other and help each other, what can happen as far as a relationship is an interesting idea, so I like it, though I am sure I will be bothered by a lot of what is to come.

reply

Your feeling kind of proves the point. Who other than someone who is annoying and has problems themselves would give Shaun the time of day as a friend. The girl, who name is Lea, is actually pretty good and appropriate for someone who would be friends with Shaun, which oddly works out for both of them.

reply

Friends yes. Lovers? I think she just likes that she can keep him on a leash and he is a willing puppy.

reply

Are you suggesting that anyone should or would be friends with someone where there is no upside in their lives? I think she recognizes that she helps Shaun, and that he helps her as well, but that she doesn't want to entangle her life with him with sex. Face it, who would want to have sex, or a boyfriend that melts down at the sound of an air-conditioner?

reply

Suggesting she is doing the classic female move of friend zoning a guy who has feelings for her. I believe she is aware of his feelings too. This probably has a positive effect on her ego knowing he hangs in there. Doesn't mean she doesn't also like him as a friend.

reply

I think you are falling victim to the thing in Video/TV/Movies wherein any two people of the opposite gender, and now not necessarily even opposite genders, who meet on-screen there is an implicit urge for the audience to want them to get together, and keeps a running score of who did what, good and bad.

So, according to my post which you were responding to, it has nothing at all to do with the "classic female move". I guess some males think it would be great if there was a law that required all women to have sex with whatever male gets close enough to ask.

Anyway, your attitude about women seems to show a chip on your shoulder. It's too bad because nurturing a chip on your shoulder about women is likely to make it more and more difficult for you to relate to women, and more likely to increase your animus towards women.

reply

Oh wow. You're attitude in general screams loser and troll. You attack a real person all because of a fictional TV show. Wow.

Just wow.

P.S If you ever get out of your momma's basement you might be able to conduct intelligent discussions with those you disagree with.

reply

Poor you, the victim. Being "attacked" because of a fictional TV show. Oh my!

I own my own basement thank you very much.

Someone who keeps answering and expanding a conversation that goes nowhere is likely the troll, troll. So prove me wrong and don't reply to this comment.

reply

Uh huh well I will do better than not answer you. I will just block you.

What an idiot. Gets challenged with ideas he can't handle and goes to pieces abusing people.

What a...what's the word?.... CUCK.

reply

It's a bit creepy. He doesn't have a mature understanding of the world or decent communication skills. I liked it when she basically cuckolded him though by banging the guy at home. I know that she and the "Good Doctor" aren't a couple but to him that would have been pretty heavy shit emotion wise to deal with.

reply

Some people these days seem to love to hear and use that work, cuckold, cuck. Are you one of that lot? Is someone cuckholded when they are not married? In other words, being cuckolded is something more shameful than being autistic ... but since he is a doctor, a surgeon, so??? If there is no relationship there officially, is Shaun really cuckolded? But I agree, it would have been too much for him to process, and in a real story he would not have processed it and probably would have lost it in one way or another. So what, just call him a cuck and get on with reading Trump's tweets for the day?

reply

Settle down.

From an emotional point of view he would be feeling like he is being cheated on, would be very jealous and generally tormented.

Emotions aren't logical of course and given his autism and lack of social understanding this would be very overwhelming for him.

reply

Don't tell me to settle down dumbass. You are the one who said this:

> I liked it when she basically cuckolded him though by banging the guy at home.

I think you are one of a few people with lots of unresolved feelings about your Mommy maybe that forces you to view women in this hostile way. Maybe you have been rejected and promoted that feeling as being "cucked" to blame it on the women instead of your own lame ass.

reply

And yet you attack me for making a light hearted comment about a fictional character?

I think you have some serious unresolved issues.

reply

I am criticizing you for not having a clue as to what a light-hearted comment is. Nothing you said is interesting or anything to build a positive conversation about, you just want to whine about your disastrous history with women and being a loser.

reply

Yeah I don't know what the writers are going for with this girl. They make her seem nice but her actions suggest she's using Shawn as a safety net or is an emotional leech. Claire is the only female character that doesn't come off as a cliche.

reply

That's what I was trying to explain to the user I blocked but he was too busy being triggered and white knighting to get it. She likes that he is interested in her, she is flattered. She has also friend zoned him. Whether she one night decides to exploit his interest in some way is yet to be seen.

reply

That person doesn't tolerate differing opinions. She threw a tantrum at me and demanded I not reply to her posts. I don't know why she posts on a movie website, she hates everything.

reply

Brux is a female? LOL I thought she was a male white knight. Makes sense that she got so upset when I criticized how women behave at times. Anyway she is blocked so fuck her. Or rather don't fuck her, you know what I mean!

The reason I compared it to cuckolding is she isn't just going somewhere on these dates. He is confronted by the guy and herself coming out of the room, obviously just after sex. It would be hard to take for anyone. The emotions experienced would be the same as having been cheated on or cuckolded.

reply

I thought it was an old man but other posters were referring to it as a "she" and "she" didn't object so ... who knows.

I like the show but it doesn't do female characters well. The blonde girl can't make up her mind if she's a cutthroat bitch or bleeding heart. I think they wanted her to be Amber from House but didn't have the commitment or acting chops. The guy that got #metoo'd was more complex and interesting.

reply

The roommate is the most annoying character. She can’t act and her voice is so nasally. He is dating a co-worker now who is more interesting. Why keep this useless roommate character on the show? I liked the dude neighbor character who took advantage of Sean. Not a good character but funnier, better storylines with Sean coping with his scammy ways.

reply

Not sure if you have seen the latest ep but I found it funny how he justified not holding her hand and how he should get what he wants because he assumes it doesn't make her uncomfortable but it makes him so. You really have to wonder what the writers are thinking and why this guy needs to have a girlfriend at all!

I know he is high range autistic and all but socially he is a retard it is creepy seeing someone try and be romantic with him.

reply

His self centeredness may have nothing to do with autism. Plenty of people are.

reply

True, I think he is used to people making allowances for him.

reply

I only know one autistic person in real life and his family, mom especially, treat him like a child even though he's a grown man, so he acts like a child. He's only mildly autistic and I wouldn't even think of him as autistic if his family didn't act like he's broken. I believe he could live on his own and have a normal life but his mom is overprotective and treats him like he can't do anything so all he ever talks about is himself because that's all anyone talks about while with him.

reply

I wasn’t talking about the girlfriend character. I was talking about the roommate.
