season 2 - the tunnel

So, the whole thing about the Professor is that he can predict the likelihood of everything many steps ahead, down to the smallest minutiae, correct? So why is it then, that when Moscow was dying from his wounds, they had to rush to dig the tunnel from both sides? It had been SEVERAL DAYS of the heist by then, the Serbs he let into the warehouse could have been digging that entire time. In fact, the whole tunnel could have been dug out by then already. I mean, that was something they needed regardless of anyone getting wounded, as that was their means of escape. You don't need to be the friggin' Professor to foresee that.

I mean, the quality of the show obviously went downhill in season 3, but I thought this whole sequence in season 2 was also unforgivable.
