The transgender looking protagonist...

To be honest, this is what put of me off watching it in theaters. Not because i'm trans-phobic but it makes me think the filmmakers are trying to push an agenda instead of just making a good movie. Studios need to learn, you don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Maybe you're reading too much into it.

Yep I did, but moviegoers make split second decisions like that. All it takes is one thing to put a certain demographic off watching your movie and the demographic for the Terminator franchise is straight males aged 18-40 I would imagine. You want a successful movie then you have to appeal to them first and foremost.

correct

reply

Lol, aren't they the male and female version of the same person.

reply

Roflmao!

Casting them both in "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" was the worst decision Luc Besson could have ever made.
They literally sucked the life out of it, LOL.
So miscast and terrible, goddamn!

Dane DeHaan is just not leading man material - he can be the weedy, heroin addicted best friend, sure, but keep him away from headlining movies. I don't mind Cara, she's a bit mental, but harmless enough.

Rihanna had the best acting chops compared to main leads, LOL. And she's a singer!
Even vets like Clive Owen were phoning it in for the money, it was hella obvious.

Agreed
That girl was the prettiest face in The Martian(a movie with Jessica Chastain), but here looks like a boy

I was thinking the same after seeing the poster, before I watched this flick - the "wymxn power" agenda would be forcibly pushed forward every chance they get till you're nauseated, the tall chick that looks like Logan Paul (didn't remember her from The Martian) is gonna be annoying, same as the short new latina etc

After watching the movie, I thought it was entertaining and not annoying at all with any forced SJW propaganda. It's got its problems, but was very watchable and was on par with all the other sequels in terms of action, plot etc.

And I love Mackenzie Davis. She looks very tomboyish which is usually never my type, but she sure does it for me lol. So watch the movie, you won't be disappointed.

reply

well , thats a shame , you missed out on a distinctly average movie because of your agenda-phobia.
...or did you end up watching it?

reply

I didn't watch it in theaters, watched it for free later.

reply

Distinctly average? DISTINCTLY AVERAGE??
They completely shat their pants in the very first 30 seconds of the movie!
Awful, just fucking awful! Fuck James Cameron and FUCK Tim Miller!!

I think it's more a sign of the times - it's very fashionable at the moment to either be talking about it, or actively engaging in it. I doubt half the people claiming to be trans actually have body dysmorphia - it's a trend-chasing fad. Give it time, it'll die down.

She really doesn't look that different to a lot of other female protagonists - she's got a bit of muscle, she's tall, but that's about it. Short hair, I guess - nothing that revolutionary.

I'm sure if Alien 3 came out now, you'd be saying the same thing.

Honestly she looks a lot worse in the posters and promotional material. In the film she doesn't look quite so butch. Tough, but not like it seems in the stills. You can definitely tell she is a girl. Plus she has a nude fight scene so more obvious there. lol
