Just saw it. It isn’t very good...

And no, it has nothing to do with overt SJW themes or PC woke liberal stuff. In fact, the movie has very few overt “gurl power” “fight the white man” stances. You’d really have to grasp at straws to find them, but I guess most ‘logical’ posters on here are good at grasping at straws, so who knows.

The film is just painfully average. Nothing terrible, but nothing really interesting. It’s your average big budget action blockbuster. They completely rewrote the timeline and I really didn’t like that; they could’ve just made this an original film instead of slapping the Terminator name on it. They stop Skynet, so now some other company rises up. Why? This gives it the sense that nothing these characters ever do will ever stop the robopocalypse, so what’s even the point in fighting if there will always be some other company to go haywire? That really makes the whole film pointless. The action scenes are mostly quite good, and it was very nice to see these characters return (why are people mad about Arnold and Linda returning? Because they’re old? Cmon, you people destroyed Salvation because “no Arnold, no movie”), and it was kinda cool to see Edward Furlong “back” through deaged CGI (somewhat misleading because it’s not what was advertised). In fact, the deaging CGI is probably the best part of the whole movie because it honestly looks amazing. But, the plot they’re in is just as bland as the film’s title, Dark Fate. This film does or says nothing new. You’ve seen this action film before a few hundred times. This film is about on par with Terminator 3, and the two films actually have alot of similarities: they honestly aren’t terrible movies, but they just copy and follow the formula from other, better films. 5/10

Alright, I'll catch it on some stream someday then. Thanks for the tip.

I could tell by the trailer this was going to be a snoozefest. The female cast doesn't have any charisma and the CGI looked really crappy. They should have went with the basics; stick with the original timeline, don't slather the whole film with CGI feces, hire actual good actors/actresses/trans-actors, don't try to one-up the originals..just make an action movie with a good story.

reply

pretty much all im expecting from the movie. just 2hrs of popcornfest.
the trailer and directors comment made it already obvious is more or less copypasta from the other existing movies and overloads on SFX/CGI

at this point they only produce a sequel to make the last movie look better ;D

im probably still gonna watch it.

reply

It didn't learn from the mistakes the other movies made by having the T-800 be comedic.

reply

Exactly. Why can't more people incl. studios realise this ? Especially the shameless moron who plays the T800.

reply

Well I'm sold!
From the OPs comments this is as good as it could ever have been.

All the replies are "Nothing beats T2 , everything after is dead to me"
why are you here then?
I'm here to watch Terminator films less good than T2 , because obviously nothing will ever beat T2 (and T1) , mainly because they came first and started (and finished) the story.
All we can do now is watch less good T films , or none at all.

Will cloning, AI, robots etc be stopped, IRL?

reply

I'm programming a software robot right now .
it's thick as shit :)

reply

So cloning, AI, robots etc will be stopped?

reply

well , even thought the term "AI" is banded about a lot - usually by marketing men rather than engineers , we are so far off (decades) developing genuine artificial intelligence that I'm not worried about it.
All the fancy things you hear about being done by AI - arnt.
its just normal computers running normal computer programs, albeit a lot of them , datacentres that analze stuff.
It looks impressive , but its nothing special.

reply

cloning?
robots with guns etc?

reply

How did you see it, specifically?

reply

With echo location, since I lost my eyesight due to stray mortar fire in the Peruvian Plastic conflicts.

Just kidding ;) i saw it at a premiere screening in LA. They had a few across the city. Should’ve clarified this.

reply

Your lying. There hasn't been any premiere screening's in LA. The premier in LA is on October 28th, with the cast and director attending and its nearly impossible to get tickets to that since it's invite only.

reply

No. There are like 4 other threads about the same thing.
