Ridley Scott came up with crappy alien sequels.
George Lucas came up with crappy SW prequels and Disney fucked it up further with shitty sequels.
Terminator..... none of the sequels after T2 were any good.
I'm still eager to see what happens to the Avatar sequels - the first avatar had a rehashed plot from a number of films. That does not bode well for the sequels - though I do expect it to look great (but then, Ridley Scott alien sequels also looked great, with a very, very poor writing - so I'm not sure appearance will save Avatar sequels - especially since Disney delayed their release once again - which is a good indication they will suck).
Point being - Sequels aren't going well these days - and the dudes that made the originals are getting senile - and not many peeps made good films after reaching senility, other than clint eastwood, maybe.
