should do well even though the franchise took a big hit critically (and US box office) with Genisys - the reason being the hyped return of Cameron/Hamilton and it being sold as a proper sequel to T2 (plus its rated R this time)
Id estimate probably will clear about 120m in US total. opening with about 35-40m - similar to Salvation
overseas should do as well as Genisys so about 300-350m
total ww = 420-470m (near enough the same as Genisys)

He basically saying like the way XMen DP box office was affected by X:Apocalypse (a hit but no one liked it and weren't bother with the next one - also happened with BvS-JL) it could happen to Dark Fate being affected by Genisys (however DF at least has the original T2 cast and Cameron returning..plus is R rated Terminator again at last)
It's very quite possible it could under-perform.

shareI think with a good trailer, it could do quite well. Unfortunately all the trailers have been disappointing. It's sold as a proper sequel to T2, but it doesn't look ANYTHING like T2.

I will see it of course, but the trailers have done a good job of killing my hype level. I thought with Cameron coming back he would set things right in the Terminator universe but it appears to me, so far, that he has failed in that mission.
But he has been making bad decisions for a while now. Devoting the entire final phase of his career to Avatar shows that he has lost his edge.

shareAbout a 70% reduction in CGI and some big practical stunts, like the T2 scene where the 18 wheeler drives off the overpass, would be a good start.
Also, a story that actually looks compelling not just like a T3-esque chase film.
