Cameron, Hamilton and Furlong back, post T2 sequels erased, R rating... what more do people want?

Yes there are bad signs for this movie like multiple scrip writers and the SJW agenda being pushed....but it seems to me the creators so far delivered almost everything the fans would want ... I see no reason to dismiss this movie before it even comes out.

reply

you've seen the trailer right?
looks like a funking cartoon

reply

Never judge a movie by it's trailers. Plenty of good movies with bad trailers and vice versa.

reply

this movie is a fucking turd any way you slice it man,
please stop defending the indefensible

reply

It isn't out yet. That was my point.

reply

i will not reserve judgement

reply

Exactly. If the first Conjuring movie were anything like its trailers or TV spots, I would have hard-passed on it.

The biggest issue is this isn't being made in 1994 like it should have been. Old geezers fighting a Terminator? 25 years too late.

reply

You can't you make a good Terminator movie with a different plot than a T from the future trying to kill someone in the present. They've tried future war in TS and it sucked. TG had a complicated time travel plot and it sucked. The former is tried out formula and it works. I don't see anything else.

reply

Salvation is the only Terminator sequel post T2 that had the right idea. You can only tell the same story rehashed so many times before it becomes boring and unwatchable. The problem with Salvation was not the idea of setting the film in during the future war, that is the only logical story to tell now, the story of John Connor rising the remaining humans from the dust to actually defeat the unbelievably powerful Skynet.

The problem with Salvation was it was a shit movie. the side plot with Sam Worthington being the main character half human terminator hybrid was stupid. The story should have focused on John Connor and the setting should have matched what Kyle Reese described in Terminator 1. That they only went out during the night and the post apocalypse should have resembled the flashbacks more. And despite Christian Bale being a great actor, he was awful in this film.

All of these are issues with the execution.

reply

For me, the only true unofficial sequel is T2 3-D: Battle Across Time (1996).

While I did enjoy Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), a full-length feature film should have been done with Edward Furlong before he let himself go.

As for Salvation (2009) - it'll always be the dog of the franchise. I consider it a prime example of right idea, wrong execution.

reply

I think the biggest problem I have is the same ole rehashed story. We've seen a terminator come from the future to kill someone in the present four times now; it's time to move on or end it. I know I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed TS and would have liked to explore that world more or at least go in that direction.

That being said, I'm excited to see Hamilton return so I might go see this.

reply

SJW agenda? What? Women carrying guns? That's been a series staple since '84.

reply

No but a 20 something Latina woman with a Mexican accent being a leader of human resistance.

reply

oh , i get it , Latinas arnt allowed to be leaders? or be a woman in a film ? or carry a gun?

reply

Stop strawmanning the argument. It isn't just that there are women with guns (hardly anybody would have a problem with that) It's just that there seem to be only women with guns.

reply

That ruins your suspension of disbelief more than the time traveling cyborgs? A young woman taking a leadership position? You must have hated sitting through Joan of Arc then.

reply

Joan of Arc is history, not fiction. It's obvious they made the leader of human resistance a woman to push feminism, and a latina to push diversity. I was asked what kind of SJW agenda are they pushing, and I replied. My point stands, even if you agree that it should be a latina and a woman.

reply

Not an agenda!

reply

If you go track down Cameron's pro-feminism statements from the past, it will become clear to you that there are a bunch of women leading this film for a reason. He's making a statement.

reply

"The Future is Female!"

Nope, no agenda...

reply

Unless Linda Hamilton jumps out of the screen and cuts your nuts off (no loss for humanity) I think you incels will survive.

reply

Ad hominem because you lost the argument?

reply

Look you angry misogynist , racist, white, incel , millennial trolls (delete where applicable)
Things ARE changing. Women are no longer chained to the kitchen or bedroom and are allowed out on their own (except in Saudi Arabia)

Any media that reflects that that isnt a crazy feminatzis hell bent on ripping the balls off all men as retribution , its normal people gratefully accepting that things are changing for the better.

Theres going to be milestones along the way , like maybe a team of all women design a car , or fill the board of a big company. those are indicators of change , for the better . equality.
... but you'll be going apoplectic , spitting your coffe out , raging about SJW feminist agendas

If it was up to you lot the current attitude would be
"oh Women cant be allowed to read , or their brains overheat and explode"

reply

LOL you're one of those authoritarian leftists that is triggered by anyone disagreeing with him. Listen, women in action movies do not reflect "reality". Women being majority of soldier and action stars does not reflect "modern times". Take a look at the military today. What percentage are women? Maybe it's slightly more than in the past, but it's still overwhelmingly majority men. Any media that deliberately portrays the opposite it not to reflect "reality" and "modern time" but out of an ideological agenda and frankly it just looks silly and pathetic. And I was never bothered by women in action until it really took off in the modern regressive far left agenda post something like 2013. The far left has become crazy and you have to be mentally ill to promote fat promoting, anti white and anti male bigoted "woke" (more like asleep) feminism of 2019. Take a hike.

reply

by bringing left & right into it you are admitting that you right wingers hate women

reply

Lol, virgins calling others incels. Can't make this up!

reply

Honestly, I would say that we got T2 and that was good enough. All these nostalgia products seem to be audiences chasing the dragon. Hollywood seems to be taking too few risks.

reply

I realize that studios need to make money to continue creating films, but there are several franchises that have really worn out their welcome with me.... they've pretty much ruined my enjoyment of any more sequels from the following:

A L I E N
Predator
Terminator
The Matrix
etc. etc. etc.

reply

The Matrix never had any sequels.

reply

riiiiiiight

reply

It looks like a huge CGI mess. I was hoping with Cameron coming back that it would feel something like T2, with awesome practical stunts like the 18-wheeler driving off the overpass. But nope, as someone else said, it looks like a fucking cartoon, totally ungrounded in reality.

After wasting so many years on Avatar and now this, I can't help but think that Cameron has lost his magic touch.

reply

I doubt Cameron was terribly involved with production being busy producing his 4 Avatar sequels. They hired the Deadpool director, they got a Deadpool looking film.

reply

Cameron is back only to pick up a check for a dead series sequel - even he said no to directing this turd of a story.

reply

Exactly. He finished the story he wanted to tell with T2. The only thing he saw in 2019 when rights were returned to him was dollar signs.

reply

My biggest gripe is no John Connor from what I've seen/read.

The character has been crucial since the beginning. The whole damn point was for him to save humanity. Now they're just ignoring John? Why? I hope they explain it in the film, otherwise, it's a big middle finger to the fans who have been faithful since the beginning.

And where did you read Furlong was cast? The dude's out of shape. I doubt he can portray a future leader if they're even going to bother going down that road.

reply

Read this guy's post:
https://moviechat.org/tt6450804/Terminator-Dark-Fate/5d690d3caa2e1e26bea978c6/Something-I-just-thought-about-in-regards-to-the-relevance-of-John-Connor-in-this-film-SPOILERS

They changed the future in T2 so John Connor is not relevant anymore.

reply

Let´s be honest here, they could have written anything they wanted, including bringing back Edward Furlong as John Connor. I read in the FAQ, they are super-imposing Furlong´s face on a child´s body, so he won´t even appear as he is now. Such a shame.

reply

It's funny you say that since he's in the first trailer being protected by the blond female Terminator.
