An early “Dark Fate” poster received backlash, calling Davis and her co-stars “feminazis” and other chauvinist hate speech. How do you think she’ll be received in the room at Comic-Con?

If you’re at all enlightened, she’ll play like gangbusters. If you’re a closet misogynist, she’ll scare the f–k out of you, because she’s tough and strong but very feminine. We did not trade certain gender traits for others; she’s just very strong, and that frightens some dudes. You can see online the responses to some of the early s–t that’s out there, trolls on the internet. I don’t give a f–k.

There wasn't any comedy in Ghostbusters 2016 and it was supposed to be a comedy. This movie is supposed to be an action movie and it seemingly has a lot of action. Hard to screw that up. Even Captain Marvel, which apparently wasn't for males, brought in a lot of money.

So you are expressly wanting non-male-centric movies to fail or something? You would have wanted The Terminator to fail, right? Can't compare Ghostbusters to Terminator since Sarah Connor was the main character of the first.

Do you hate Ripley too?

Funny thing is that Ripley is indeed one of more beloved characters by the same people that dislike feminism.

Ripley in Aliens is the perfect example of how to make a great female character in an action movie while remaining a credible female. Ripley has to be blackmailed because she doesn't want to go 'on adventures' to chase Aliens, which makes sense in a female character, 'chasing dragons' is more a male trait. And she doesn't engage Aliens until they kidnap Newt, and then she enters 'don't mess with a mother' mode, going from avoiding violent conflict to willing to take any chance to get Newt back no matter the risks. Again, a credible female character. And she doesn't have an unreal physical strength, she uses weapons, and the crane-robot, to fight the Aliens. Again, it's pulp, it's a movie, but it doesn't break immersion like it happens when you watch a little chick knock down a big guy with a punch, wtf.

It seems that the modern meaning of 'misogynist' has no relation with real women anymore, and is about hating those men with boobs and vagina that have become standard characters in modern movies.

I wouldn't go as far as that.

'Strong Female Characters' have been appearing in movies, computer and video games for a long time, and some are more feminine than others. So if you really want to say 'credible female', I'd suggest looking towards Cynthia Khan and Moon Lee - those females are very credible on the screen in every way possible.

AND their movies are more equal, because women get punched in the face by men and women, just as men get punched in the face by men and women. They also punch and kick men and women in the face and other body parts.

I've never watched any movie of Cynthia Khan. Moon Lee, I remember her quite well in the first two Mr.Vampire movies. I actually love those movies. Watching them Lam Ching-ying became one of my favorite actors, and one I consider most unfairly forgotten.

I remember Moon Lee in Mr.Vampire and Mr.Vampire 2, and I quite liked her. But she was the usual female warrior character in Hong Kong movies. Don't get me wrong: while I heavily dislike the 'powerful female warrior' stuff in modern western movies, I quite like those female warrior characters in old Hong Kong ones. But Hong Kong 60s/70s/80s movies (1) didn't feel political and (2) had a 'fairytale' quality that prevents from breaking immersion when you see a chick punching and knocking down a big dude. That quality was lost in the 90s, though :-(.

So, yeap, I get what you say. Dude, you're answering to somebody who loves 70s Hong Kong movies!! LOL.

And, as a general rule, I'd agree that old Hong Kong movies are the ones that got the 'female warrior' trope right (I'd add here some Anime series too, though they play often in the edge with those Tsundere characters). Still... I keep thinking that Alien 1/2 and Terminator 1/2 are exceptions to that rule.

People rarely hate shitty movies, they just avoid them. The keyword you didn't include from the comment you answered was 'political'. Of course not. It's just a deflection technique for when a person or group has called you out on your shit and/or doesn't agree with your take. Another popular tactic is to say "they're just too stupid to understand", but that wouldn't serve the double function of helping his career by pleasing the left as much as "they're just scared of women" does. Why just talk shit about men, when you can talk shit about men AND stroke Hollywood's liberal ego and reinforce "women are strong, smart, funny, etc." at the same time and help your career. You take a fake stance on a political issue that people are emotionally invested in and cash out. Simple as that. He's about his own pockets, just like 99.99999999% of the rest of them. They say what they need to say - what sells.

Any man that talks this line of shit is either:

A) selling something to idiots and/or the emotionally vulnerable
or
B) a pathetic, brainwashed cuck that has actually been convinced to believe this drivel, in which case I still have no feelings of fear. The only thing I feel is sympathy for him.

Love the Terminator series, but I'm done with this bullshit of "enlightened" actors or directors bashing and lecturing their audience on social and political issues...and calling anyone with a differing opinion a troll.

I'm done with the constant identity politics in movies.

I'm just done. No more of my money for your political cause movies. Hope your movie tanks like the last few Terminator movies.

Merely putting a woman in the lead role isn't lecturing. But going on an interview rant stating "if you're enlightened" then this, and "if you're a misogynist", then this, and "everyone who doesn't like what we're doing is a troll and is afraid of women, blah, blah, blah"...all of that shit is lecturing and pandering, and ignoring any valid criticism of the movie. What the hell does Tim Miller know about enlightenment and misogyny? Piss off with that shit.

If you lecture and talk down to your audience, then fuck you, I won't pay to see your movie. I don't care if it's the greatest movie ever. I'm done. I don't care if it doesn't matter to Tim Miller, the box office, or anybody else.

I love the first two Terminator movies...with guess what...a female lead, and they are classics. Then didn't have to put it on the front page of the newspaper either that Linda Hamilton was a badass. She just was (in T2).

I didn't really have much to say about this new girl, other than I thought from that still pic for this site she looks like she's trying hard to act like a dude, but she is so skinny and small I don't think she could protect a lollipop from a 2 year old. I'm sure 70 year old Linda Hamilton and Arnold will help her out.

That's my opinion. Everyone has one, and everyone is entitled to one, whether you agree with it or not.

Either way, I was going to give this film a chance...now I'm not, and that goes for every actor, director, or studio that feels the need to lecture the public about dumb shit. And no, I'm not talking about female leads in action movies, I'm talking about being so "woke" you have tell the universe that someone with a vagina is the lead in your action movie. It's nothing knew. They just think it is in 2019.

With a film that already looks awful from the trailer, the last thing I want to hear is the director coming out and saying something as cringy as "If you’re a closet misogynist, she’ll scare the f–k out of you". About as confidence sapping as having a director called McG directing, and I thought after Deadpool there may be a little reason for optimism. No, no faith at all now.
