Am I the only one who liked Genisys?

It was decent. The Asian Terminator was cool, too.

I loved it! The ending in the liquid metal factory was clumsy, but overall the movie was very entertaining.

reply

I will see it then, yes.

I love that movie. too bad that didn't make a sequel. the movie ended on a cliffhanger.

reply

I liked it.

reply

No I gave it a 7/10.

I love genisys. In fact I love ALL the terminators, yes people even ROTM and Salvation 😎

I dont get all the hate for T3. The female terminator was badass and the cemetery and crane driving scenes were awesome. Salvation was probably my least favorite but I didnt hate it.

It's not a great film but i found it reasonably entertaining as it's own stand alone film. The hate it gets seems to be over the top and more to do with it not measuring up with the orginal films than truly being a terrible film. Emilia Clarke, while no Linda Hamilton circa T2 was surprisingly strong in her performance. Even the bland Australian guy was passable. Arnold's presence throughout the film helped. I consider it the best of the Terminator films that came after T2

Emilia Clarke was the worst thing about it. That woman cannot act. I cringed every time she said "Pops". Just awful.

I really enjoy all the Terminator films. Genisys was awesome, I loved it and I'm super excited for this one.

i. Cast was awful. There was zero chemistry between the leads.

Emilia Clarke looks like a high school kid and was just so perky -- and Sarah Conner is not a perky character. She's a grim warrior.

This came out when they were trying to make Jai Courtney the next Big Thing. The kindest thing that can be said of him is that he's mediocre and lacks any charisma.

Asian Terminator? I had to go back to IMDB to look up the character/actor he was such a blank presence.

Even Arnold seemed bored and uninspired by it all.

ii. I can hardly remember the plot, it was so forgettable. I remember it being a mashup of familiar plots and tag lines from previous movies... a lazy way to appeal to fans.

Is this the one where Skynet was some sort of child-like cloud thingy? Cuz that was stupid.

Even the plot 'twist' -- John Connor is a Terminator -- wasn't that big a deal. That was originally going to be the plot twist of Salvation before the Internet leaked that detail, forcing the writers/producers to change the script for that movie.

iii. The directing must have been mundane too... if you paid me I couldn't describe one single action sequence.

Cameron must have been gnashing his teeth til he could re-gain control of his product.

I guess I do.

To state the obvious, so much went wrong with Genisys. But, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a mostly good time with it. For all its faults, it was still enjoyable and pretty interesting in its own right. Yes, when you consider how much anticipation there was for it, it ultimately really failed to live up to the hype (Jai Courtney was miscast as expected tho). Nonetheless, I can’t say I was underwhelmed by it like I was by, say, Terminator Salvation. And I agree about Genisys’ Terminator.

P.S. bring on Dark Fate! So even many of those that don’t live to hate on everything found the trailer to be lukewarm. Hey, I expected a stronger trailer myself, but... I have no reason to complain like all of those that know this is going to suck and/or be the worst thing ever based on this first trailer (screw what the fragile masculinity reich says). I like what I saw and still think this upcoming entry is in very good hands, big whoop.
